Judge: Fort Hood suspect can be forcibly shaved

:salam2:

I wonder since when the beard become a matter of disrespect of any court :hmmm:

A judge said the military can shave Maj. Nidal Hasan, the Army psychiatrist charged in a 2009 deadly shooting rampage at Fort Hood, before he appears in court. Judge Col. Gregory Gross had said he would deliver a definitive order this week after a hearing to determine whether Hasan would be allowed to keep his beard, which he started growing while in jail earlier this summer. Gross barred him from appearing in military court, citing the Army’s strict regulations regarding grooming standards.
Hasan’s attorney, Lt. Col. Kris Poppe, said his client grew the beard as a “deeply sincere” expression of his Islamic faith and because he believed he would die soon.

Gross ruled the defense didn’t prove that Hasan is growing a beard for sincere religious reasons, the Associated Press reported.
Gross also ruled that no further hearings for Hasan’s murder trial would take place until all appeals conclude, triggering another delay in court proceedings since defense attorneys plan to appeal. As such, Hasan will not be shaved today.

Re: Judge: Fort Hood suspect can be forcibly shaved

He is still an US military member and the us military does not allow beards. Mr Hasan never had a beard before his murders and can't can't grow one now.

Re: Judge: Fort Hood suspect can be forcibly shaved

Kill US service men, expect the US to respect your rights... Someone thinks to highly of them self.

Re: Judge: Fort Hood suspect can be forcibly shaved

At the end he knows he'll going to die (as he said) so why not let him keep beard. Will keeping the beard make any difference? No. than let him keep it as he wished. :)

Re: Judge: Fort Hood suspect can be forcibly shaved

He joined the Army voluntarily, he wasn't drafted in. He is still a soldier and the Army doesn't allow beards. Simple.

Re: Judge: Fort Hood suspect can be forcibly shaved

Such a drama queen...

Re: Judge: Fort Hood suspect can be forcibly shaved

Personally I would let him keep it, but a lot of people really really despise this guy.

Re: Judge: Fort Hood suspect can be forcibly shaved

I am all for him keeping the beard. But as Med stated difficult to give a hoot about this guy. This is not an issue that needs highlighting., IMO.

Re: Judge: Fort Hood suspect can be forcibly shaved

It's a beard that he wants to keep ... It harms no one for him to have his beard ... As they say ... Give a man who is gonna die ... His last wish ... To express himself ...

It is clear that kindness is not expected both ways here ... There are some who despise the religious so much they don't see their own hypocrisy ...

Re: Judge: Fort Hood suspect can be forcibly shaved

Agree with first para.

Most don't DESPISE the religious. Some just don't care for the fundamental extreme right wing aspects of certain religious folks. A nuanced distinction.

Re: Judge: Fort Hood suspect can be forcibly shaved

There are people who are religious who despise other religious people to such an extent that they dont see their own hypocrisy either. How is this any different then Sunnis in Pakistan forcibly removing the Kalima from the graves or the mosques (err place of worship! ) of Ahmadis?

Everyone likes to play victim, even though everyone is equally culpable.

Re: Judge: Fort Hood suspect can be forcibly shaved

Even I don’t understand why it was highlighted in news. What msg they r trying to give by this news :hmmm:

Re: Judge: Fort Hood suspect can be forcibly shaved

Also, if your are sincere in your own faith, then the last thing you should want is for a murderer to further associate himself with it. We should try to dissociate ourselves from such a person, not champion his assumed right to represent our common faith through his beard.

On some level we should be thanking the judge for saving the sanctity of Islam by not allowing such a person to represent it.

.

Re: Judge: Fort Hood suspect can be forcibly shaved

Allah hastened his release from sanity years ago, this last part is just a formality...

Re: Judge: Fort Hood suspect can be forcibly shaved

^ Yes when he joined US army. :)

Re: Judge: Fort Hood suspect can be forcibly shaved

Joining the army. What's the Islamic ruling on that?

Re: Judge: Fort Hood suspect can be forcibly shaved

^If your niyyat is to support your deen by doing jihad then you will be rewarded.

Mullah ki daur deen tak :)

Re: Judge: Fort Hood suspect can be forcibly shaved

Well when one takes the oath of US citizenship, he vows to protect the country against all threats foreign and national. So being an American one cannot be a Muslim I guess.

Deserting the army and leaving US for Saudi would have been a more sensible course of action. What did his killing spree achieve. It wasn't like it had a strategic purpose. It was just senseless violence.

Bao Bihari can find a loop hole in anything. Wait for it...
