That does not make it permissible to serve alcohol for a Muslim man or woman . Does it ? Only if my kids were dying of hunger then I will opt for this profession that too temporarily and keep on looking for some halal way of paying my bills.
No, it doesn't make it permissable but we shouldn't pick on air hostesses.. sorry flight attendants only..

The thread is about air hostesses , Not about a Muslim waiters serving alcohol or an accountant working in a bank or a dalal working for a kanjri . If you like you can open three different threads on those topics and I would be glad to participate let us talk about flight attendants only in this one.

A friend of mine got an offer for a air hostess job. She is pakistani and live in UK. Her family is having a issue about the dress code she will wear during her job. Since she has to wear skirt as a part of her job here parents thinks its inappropriate, but she thinks that its part of the professional she has choosen. I would like to have opinions from here especially from girls that what would you do? Do you wear skirt as a part of your job and what will be the reaction of your parents?
I believe the politically correct term is "flight attendent" these days.. air hostess is considered derogatory. Anyway, she can wear stockings under the skirt which is not see through. Like those opaque ones, not sheer. I have seen many flight attendents wear pants instead of skirts. I m sure thats an option.
I think it would be a good idea since they get paid well but I hear they get laid off alot too because airlines arent doing too well these days. for this reason, i wouldn't choose this field because its really unstable. if she gets married or something it will be hard because her husband will never get to see her. most flight attendents are away for weeks at a time so it may be hard for her to settle down..
The benefits are good though, you get to see the world and get free hotel stays and all that. I think its not a bad idea to do it for a few years when you're single but i dont know if its good permanently because you wont have time for your husband and kids..

Just seems a bit hypocritical criticising her when prob most of us are doing jobs that have haram elements in them as well..

Ok so its ok i see alot of you have said that she shud wear tights/stockings, well since theres also some discussing haram and halal
care to tell me how stocking/tights are halal or decent please? as far as i know they reveal ur legs shape, so correct me iff im wrong.......
besides im sure she can wear trousers unless of course she HERSELF chooses not to

As I said this thread is not about what you want to talk about. Being judgmental without knowing what others do for living based on assumptions is not part of any Islamic teachings either. They are no passing fatwas , they are giving their take on the question asked by OP. Which does not make it a fatwa on the matter. We all are students not alims.

On the contrary I am realizing the ground realities anybody would be faced with a dilemma to work on a job which would be questionable as per Islamic code of conduct to pay the bills , but that should never be the end of hope , one should keep looking for better and they will achieve their goal. I know a guy who quit his job as a Senior Vice President of a bank and started to drive taxi for a short period of time and then ultimately he found a job which he thought would not clash with his faith and his beliefs.
