JJ, after accepting the role from Showman’s movie, received death threats after shaving his beard, and decided not to go ahead with the role, and Shaoib Mansoor has now asked his friend Salman Ahmad of Junoon for his upcoming feature. Shoiab Mansoor has been a long time friend of Salman Ahmad, and the very first featurette by Salman Ahmad was actually produced by Shioab himself, and after that Salman went ahead and did international documentaries for the PBS and BBC.

Salman Ahmad, lead guitarist of Junoon group said that it’s a great honour to be offered a chance to act in a Shoaib Mansoor film. I have great interest in the subject of Islam, pop culture and politics and this film will definitely have an international appeal.

I won't say that I find it good or bad that he is not working in the movie. Because that's his own personal decision and none of my (or anyone else's) business. But I honestly think JJ should have made his mind up earlier before going public with any decision to work or not work in the movie.

Junaid gets death threat for shaving beard

LAHORE: Star singer Junaid Jamshed, who bid farewell to the music world due to his religious leanings, has been getting death threats after he shaved his beard to work in a movie directed and produced by Shoaib Mansoor.
Indian film legend Naseeruddin Shah is also starring in the movie. A very upset Junaid Jamshed told Daily Times on Thursday that he was being chased by strangers and getting death threats after he shaved his beard to work in the movie Khuda Key Liya. They have even threatened to kill his family.
“We know your whereabouts and can kill you at any time,” an anonymous caller said. Jamshed who has recently signed the film, said that after receiving these threats he was having second thoughts on whether he should stand by his decision. “ I am reviewing it and might not do this film,” he added. Junaid gave up singing a few years ago, grew a beard and joined the Tableeghi Jamaat, saying singing did not fit into his lifestyle anymore. After a considerable gap, noted producer Shoaib Mansoor offered him a role in his movie.
Mansoor told Daily Times that the subject of the film was serious and was not the kind of a movie in which a hero runs after a heroine in gardens.
Mansoor said that Naseeruddin Shah would play the role of a Muslim scholar in the movie. Shah wanted to avoid media hype and therefore did not talk to reporters.

That death threat news is total BS. It is another excuse to bash Mullahs. Not working in movie must be JJ’s personal decision. Is that any proof that he already shaved his beard for working in a movie? I said in my previous posts that after watching JJ in a telethon for tsunami there is no way that he would shave his beard and go back to entertainment. Those who are spreading this death threat rumor are those pissed off people who don’t want to see their favorite celebrity JJ turned into a mullah. Spock I am not talking about you but people like that guy in daily times. What is the credibility of that news?

Bhai I understand, I would have believed that that JJ has accepted to work in that movie if I hadn’t seen that telethon. There is one thing to have a beard and religious but the way JJ was talking and reading Quraanic aayah and ahadiths on that show there was no way that he would agree to work in that movie. Not even if his dearest friend asked him to.

Well, if you go back a few years, did you see the interview that he gave to prime (some old gs guppies might remember that, someone even posted screen shots here), where he was dressed up in the traditional arabic way, and even changed the way he spoke, I was so sure (just like you are right now) that he had given up showbiz, but after a few months I found him here in chicago at a gig.

Hmm, I dont know how mollahs got herE? Kher, this thread is actually about Salman, not JJ. Salman will go ahead and do this movie. Salmans been good in documentaries, but he himself has said hes not a natural actor, but he still did a good job in that drama with Sania Saeed.

You have mentioned death threats twice in this thread. So it’s not a rocket science to figure out who would be giving those threats beside mullahs.
About Salman, he did a mediocre job in that drama with Sania Saeed. But why Shoaib Mansoor is determined to cast a pop singer for this role. We have so many talented actors from dramas who can do a much better job than some musician. When you make a big budget production, friendship should be last thing on your mind for casting roles.

Agent, no need to blame Salman now, that this JJ fiasco occurred. And please dont question Shoiab's decisions, hes the man, he knows what hes doing. Had it not been for the threats, JJ (a better choice for acting) would have played the role. And Btw, the article does not blame the mollahs for the threats. Also, you dont believe the fact that JJ shaved his beard??

There was no death threat. Although I personally respect JJ a lot but I don’t think that too many people think that he is that important to get death threats. He can do whatever his wants. That’s his decision and public realizes that as well.
From where did you get this idea that I am blaming Salman? And also I am not questioning Shoaib Mansoor decision. I was just giving my thoughts about the casting of that role. After all this is a discussion forum and people are entitled to give their opinions
