اپنے والد کی طرح خودار تھی
وہ عورت جو اپنے باپ کی طرح
بہت باوقار تھی
وہ عورت اب اس دنیا میں نہیں
اور اس ملک میں اس کے نام پر
کوئی گھر؛ کوئی گلی اور کوئی کرکٹ گراؤنڈ بھی نہیں
اس عورت کا تذکرہ کسی درسی کتاب میں نہیں
وہ امیر اسٹائل کی فقیر عورت
صدا دیے بغیر چلی گئی
اورساحل سمندر کی اداس ہوا نے ٹہر کر
پاکستان کا پرچم سرنگوں کردیا
آج رات شبنم اس کی یاد میں روئے گی
اور کل صبح مذار قائد کے گنبذ پر
اوس کے الفظ میں لکھی ہوگی یہ تحریر
’’دو گز زمیں بھی نہ ملی کوء باپ میں‘‘اعجاز منگی

Wrong conclusion made. Even though the thoughts are good. Quaid e Azam made Pakistan because he didn’t think Hindus can be trusted to be secular enough. He himself was a liberal educated and open minded person. Thus the marriage to a non Muslim. Thus the daughter who was not forced to be Muslim. What Quaid e Azam got wrong was the Mullah mindset Pakistan generated is even more dangerous than the untrustworthy Hindu. He would be abhored to Look at the sad state of affairs of Pakistan today. A mosque in every corner producing religious bigots by thousands. Rest In Peace Dina.

Thanks @Mostar95 for opening this thread about the demise of the only daughter of the person whom every Pakistan related person owes a lot.

Isnt it surprising that she was born on the night of Aug 14 and 15. Though ofcourse in a different year, 1919.

RIP Dina, a person from one of the finest and most elegant families in the world.

Even if religious bigots are having a field day in Pakistan, it doesn’t invalidate jinnah’s views considering the sectarianism that muslims face in india in job discrimination, housing discrimination and outright murder for eating beef. Modi’s ascension hasn’t helped matters and no one should assume that India is like America.

She was smart enough not to involve in any dirt politics of Pakistan designed by the military. Quaid’s Pakistan started to disintegrate even during his last days of his life and ultimately broke up in 1971. According to Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, father of Wali Khan, "Quaid’s Pakistan finished’ when East Pakistan was transformed into Bangladesh.

I can assure you minorities face tougher time in Pakistan today. Qadiani, Shia, Balochi, Sindhi, Mohajirs, Christians - would paint you at least a similar story if not worst. So while Modi might be a small setback to an overall secular trajectory for India. They will eventually overcome it only because their desire to educate their masses is real and can’t be refuted.

We can’t say the same about Pakistan where education system has imploded and mullah taught madrassa culture is taking its place.

I am not giving a rosy picture for Pakistan but Modi is not a small setback for India. You don’t know the grand support for hindutva even in expat indians.

Trump might be a blip in the american conscience but I am not even going to go that far yet unless we see what happens in 2018 or 2020.
