Jillian Michaels Challenge

Salam all,

I wanna start doing the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. I am aiming to do this every other day to build some muscle. Any one up to do this with me?

I'll do it - I love her 30 day shread - I think you see a difference in two days - she's hard core though

Did it today... all 20 mins of it.... I wasn't able to the jumping jacks as much so just walked in place and I was following Anita who was doing it easier.... but this time I did not feel it in my legs... last time I did this I couldn't even sit down without crying in pain....

On the pushups I can't do them on the floor .... regular or modified ones so hubby suggested I do them against the wall...

tomorrow inshAllah I will try to do this full fledged .... guess that walking and jogging is doing something good.....

I have done this before and I saw results. You just have to push yourself for the 20 minutes but she's is tough.

You'll build endurance the in your first 5 days.

I started level one and I am able to get through the jumping jacks but the last set of squats with the weights are killing me.

I can't do regular push up either but modified I can do those.

how much weights are you using?

Cardboard abs here we come :)

hey njgal,

currently i'm using 1kg weights but I think I should start using the 2 kg weights. Tomorrow after I'm done with my jogging I'm doing the JM level one again...

Nj ... I know you helped your friend lose 25 pounds... any tips on losing weight quick ...i've been walking / running (interval training) for the past 4 weeks but haven't seen any difference at all except my endurance increasing .... My biggest prob area is my lower body I can't seem to get it to budge...

any and all tips are welcome

hey sadi 79 - Define quick weight loss for me? Gimme a number and timeframe and lets see if it's doable.

I have got to warn you a bit - with jillian you are going to GAIN some weight because you are building muscle with the hard core strength training but * your clothes will fit you so much better" - just keep that in mind,

I use 3kg - I have up it to 5 and I even do 8 for some shoulder exercises.

By lower body do mean abs? glutes? legs?

If you need to do lower body exercises TWO THINGS I HIGHLY RECOMEND

  1. squats (start with 20, everyday you are going to increase by 5)
  2. Stairs - (if you got them in the house - atleast 30 times a day)

How often do you workout?
How long do you work out a day?
What does your diet look like?
Can you food journal for 2 days and send it to me so I can tweak it for you?

I wish everyone would do jillian - I have not seen such drastic results from any other 20 minute workout but you gotta work!! She kills me everytime

I just downloaded her banish fat boost metabolism and I think i would want to do that as well somewhere down the road...give me a couple of days I will journal my diet and send it your way... I love the idea of being accountable I just will have to come to terms with being honest to you ...hehehe...

oh you have to be kidding me in terms of stairs 30 times.... I get all huffed and puffed climbing 2 flights of stairs once..... I do have an aerobics step and wii fit...maybe I could do step exercise ...but how many steps....

i have been doing this its brilliant! I didnt do it for last week though :( and ate crap cos i was working nights!

ooo i shud do this - i really need a kick in the behind! I look at the dvd everytime i go to Target but i end up not getting it thinking its gona be the same old rutt and im gona get tired of it but i guess trying it wont hurt -

Did this again today.... a bit better than before but still on a much lower scale....

Odd thing though I don't feel anything in my stomach muscles...my legs are killing me but no sensation in my stomach...what could be the possible reasons for that ????

sadi - I am not saying do the stairs at once them at once but in the course of the day.

That's a big myth about exercise that you need a 30 minute increment or an hour. If you do cardio for 10 minutes 6X in a day - you will get results also.

I think if you are accountable to someone - you don't derail that quickly

Thanks Sadi - I would love to be a desi jillian! My dream is open up a ladies fitness club one day. I would love to see more muslim and desi women taking care of their health and body.

Just did it this morning .... either I must be getting better or it must be getting easier...no more sore legs.... What I don't understand is how come my arms aren't sore from using the 5lb weights??? I am a non exerciser so I expected them to be a little sore at least but nothing... anyhow.... I am planning on incorporating her new video banish fat boost metabolism too ....any supporters for that one... ???

Yeah i need to start on this since i cant do go to the gym to get my ass kicked anymore. I used to the same excercises that she does for about 50 mins and then do abs for 10 mins 3 times a week but ever since my moms surgery i haven't been able to :( Anyways, would love to start this with you.

Was your form right?

Try to have a big mirror by you so you can keep checking your form while you are working out.
