What are Islamic teachings for Jehad against tyrants?
Is that applicable for Taliban who killed thousand innocent people?
If yes, why don’t religious scholars issue fatwa to this impact and kept on limiting themselves in issuing mere statements against terrorism like politicians?
Is it only responsibility of other quarters of society, who are tagged as secular for raising voice against these cruelties and killings?
But these scholars and their fatwa got some weight among their followers. Why they have kept their fatwa limited to issues which are not as important as human lives. It seems these scholars are either happy with the killing of people by Fasadi Taliban or they are afraid of them to save their lives which got more value than the sheep and goat being killed everyday.
the issue of Americans being in the region makes it hard to give a fatwa against Taliban. Obviously since the situation is at is, there is miscreants who transgress against the people
If the matter was purely in our own hands then situation would easier to manage, or there would be no situation to manage
so religious is the name of compromise? Don't we know how multicultural Hejaz was during the period of the Prophet (SAW). Two super-powers of the era, were in tussles with Muslim at that time. Did Prophet (SAW) make a compromise on any of the issues affecting lives of Muslims then? Or the definition of Muslim and importance of lives have changed since then as per the religious beliefs?
if you believe that killers are on one side only then you cannot keep it balanced.
If you are referring to third hand that we have already taken enough dose of that ostrich approach.
I'm talking of silence of religious scholars on killing of common men in street. Those same scholars were quite vocal is issuing takfeeri fatwas against different sects are summum bukmum umyun on these killing. Why they didn't see value of compromise, reconciliation, when they pave the way of sectarian venom in society?
Our scholars had called the so called Jihadists operating in Syria, the ones who killed the teenager for not giving his shop's items for free to the Islamist-rebels and the same ones who were desecrating the graves of the awliya as a sect as not part of the Ahl-us-Sunnah-wa-al-Jamah.
But our scholars actually understand Islam unlike the Taliban. Our scholars know they cannot call Jihad ... This is the role of the Caliph ... Otherwise we are just going to go around waging jihad on each other ... And the muftis don't have that power anyway ... An appointed Judge has more power ... But we are living in confusing times ...
There are fatwas against taleban, but somehow the deobandi’s are quiet. Its important for them to take a line as the Taleban consider themselves to be a part of that sect. They should keep this in mind (regardless of sect) that these tyrants are damaging the image of Islam. It seems as if Munawar Hassan has also come to this conclusion.
LAHORE: Taking a slightly different position from their traditional view point, Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) chief Syed Munawar Hasan Friday said that neither bombings (airstrikes) can help restore peace nor suicide attacks could pave way for the enforcement of Islamic Shariah.
Addressing the congregation of Friday prayers at Mansoora mosque – the JI headquarters – he said that religious forces, especially Deobandi clerics should step forward and pave way for dialogue to save the country and also to prevent the emergence of a wrong image of Islam.
appointed judge? Caliph? Who got these powers in Pakistan? likes of Zardari? or likes of Nawaz Sharif who have soft corner for so called jehadis? Who were the scholars who called war in Afghanistan as Jehad and now keep numb on Pakistan's situation?
I would like to know why there is a distinction between a scholar and a person who can call for Jehad? Under the circumstances, what is the role of scholars to the betterment of society? I don't see making people pray for 5 times is enough role. Islam just didn't come to announce certain rituals and worship methods, it was a complete revolution and now our scholars are just like puppets / robots (sorry for being harsh, but I don't think I'm the alone who got such sentiments after seeing all these brutalities and religious people keeping hypocritical silence).
did any of the school of thought and scholars called Taliban butchers and mufsideen openly? These people came up with comments like ‘we call spade a spade’ when matters like Eid Milad and Ashura being biddat come under discussion, but when it comes to address these killers, they became bheegi billi

I know you don't like it but only the leaders of Pakistan can call for war ... Fighting the Taliban as a civil war needs to be a call for government to handover to the army, reinstate martial law and for the members of the public to join the ranks under militia groups. Otherwise the scholars do not have this power. The scholars are academics ... They can tell what is halal or haram, but they cannot exercise sentences or decisions on behalf of others like a government can.

so why this halal and haram is not being told to public? Instead what we see is support for butchers by doing / saying aaen baen shaen by these very scholars. Did anyone hear from Mimber of masjid that acts of Taliban are haraam? Giving random statements won't work and will not expose the butchers. There are people who still consider theses Talibans as doing saintly acts. why? because our scholars are silent. There deen is limited to niqaab, bidat and like matters.

No ... I have not heard from the Deobandis or Ikhwanis in their pulpits saying that the act of the Taliban is haram ... The reason why ... I don't know ... They do speak out against suicide attacks ... But they rely on certain shuyukh and they have given the okay for such tactics ... So they are tongue-tied to agree with their higher-ups or splinter from them. For some groups this is a true dilemma ... It is not because they are scared it is because they do not know the right answer.
In a program ‘with kamaran shahid’ host was asking a question on who have the right to give divorce between man and woman. guests were mufti naeem, sharmila farooqi, and another social activist. while mufti naeem was explaining Islamic jurisdiction on the issue, sharmila farooqi and other activist satarted making fun of mufti naeem’s statement. and on top of it, host himself started laughing while letting them make fun of what mufti naeem was saying.
this is the attitude of power elite toward one of most respected scholar, not to speak of jamatis.
having said that, govt if Musharraf and and PPP were not at all interested in getting help from scohalrs. And its not like On-Off button that new governments could solve this issue in one go.

But this is not an excuse to address these issues from mimber of Masajid. In Masajid there is no stupid anchor like Kamran Shahid, who stopped scholars to convey their point on these killings. Is it necessary that scholars discuss these issues when and only when Government asks for opinion? This silence proves ( as psyah stated) that they are in dilemma and have no feelings for thousand innocents who were killed for nothing. Their silence is tilted towards killers.
If a person is unemployed and went on to snatching mobiles and cars from public and in an incident if he kills a person, will we keep silence on this crime and not call that person a criminal / murderer? Then why there is silence by scholars in respect of killings by Taliban?
Barelvis have got fatwas against them, but it does not matter as these groups draw strength from deobandis (and state patronage). Deobandis would have to forcefully shun them.
