KARACHI: Former Pakistani cricket team’s captain Javed Miandad has invited President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz tomorrow to the reception of his son Junaid’s wedding to Mahrukh, the daughter of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, accused in the 1993 Mumbai blasts.
“Yes, I have invited the honorable President and Prime Minister besides Muslim League leader Chaudhry Shujaat Husain. I am hoping that they will attend the reception to give blessings to the newly wed couple,” Miandad was quoted in the mass circulated Jang newspaper.
However, Musharraf is unlikely to attend the reception after he flew to Jeddah to attend the funeral of Saudi King Shah Fahd who passed away on Monday.
There is still no official confirmation regarding Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz’s visit to the reception though he is said to have pressing commitments in Islamabad.
Junaid married Mahrukh in Dubai on July 23. Dawood is accused of involvement in the 1993 Mumbai bombings that left more than 300 dead.
“Miandad refused to confirm if Dawood Ibrahim would attend the reception,” the newspaper said.
Yup... But you know Talwar jee, can you really blame him for the bombings when he was reacting to the riots which killed thousands from his community? I mean, seems like a double standard here dont you?! He is vilified as a terrorst for killing people in those bombings... While those who perpetrated the Gujrat masacre, those who probably killed more people then Dawood ever did during those riots, including your own Modi are free to go scot free... So whats your excuse now?
He had no stake in the riots. His gang had killed scores of Muslims who belonged to other gangs. Inf act many Muslims died in the 1993 attacks.
He executed the bombings in return for sanctuary in Pakistan. The fact of the matter is he controls some 40% of drug trade in Pak and has caused more damage to his current hosts than he did to us.
By your argument will you be okay if some Shias from Gilgit go and kill a few hundred in Karachi as revenge for the current happenings in Gilgit?
She can never be considered guilty for what her father might had done, unless she had helped him some way. Where in Pakistan is he actually hosted? I want to meet him.
i think for most pakistanis, there hero is either killer or terrorist or gangster or fugitive businessman. Killers are some kind of entertainers for them.

Here is what im saying. Many people have said that Dawoods actions were in direct retaliation for the riots… Even the history channel once did a program about him, and drew the same conclusion. I mean, it seems strange that he would cause so much damage right after the riots when all he was upto then was a petty thug boss, who killed member of his own community.
And I still dont know why your blaming Pakistan, its seems were just a convenient scapegoat for you people whenver you cant come to grips with your own problmes. Your implying that he wanted sanctuary in Pakistan, but Pakistan TOLD him he could only get it if he commited a bombing!!! Even the most die Hard Pak hardliners would have hard time swallowing this crap.
Still, the question reamins, why is he vilified when people like Modi and others involved in killing Muslims have gone free? Shouldnt Modi be looking for sanctuary himself right now??!?

If I had the power, I'd hang Narendra Modi and the entire Gujarat cabinet which was in power in 2002 by their ballls until they die. They are scumbags and murderers of the worst order. Same goes for Bal Thackeray and his goons in Bombay in 1992. Except for the nuclear test I have nothing that I like about the BJP.
Another thing, there is also another side to this. During the post Babri riots I was in Hyderabad in my uncle's place that was in the stronghold of the local Muslim goon, S.S.Owaisi. Everyone there saw the bugger and his sons bring in truckloads of goons to a slum that was populated by vegetable vendors who were mainly hindu. They coolly hacked 50 plus people over 6 days. We were in the house without food and scared ****less. Owaisi and his sons are still the local leaders in parliament and assembly there, despite this. In certain parts of India, goondas are the law. Modi unfortunately was able to do it in a larger scale and has gotten away with it.

Yes it is a double standard. The US fetes Sharon but bans Gaddafi. Pakistan bans Altaf Hussain but tolerates jihadis. These are political compulsions. Modi is hiding behind his voters. Personally I hope that once he is voted out he meets his maker in a bomb blast or some other just comeuppance. But not when he is in power - that would lead to another round of riots.
Dawood’s case is a bit different because he has caught the American eye by pumping heroin thru Dubai into Europe and the US. Plus he is linked to A.Q.Khan and some jihadis so he is bad news.
Then if double standards are at play, then you can really accuse any country of wrong doing can you... For example, Pakistan plays double standards aswell with its Kashmir policy and its local terrorist problem... Can you truly blame them when all countires are guilty of the same thing?
The difference is that the international system has no tolerance when your local goon goes over to another country and kills people or if you shelter killers from another land when the home of the killers has some international standing.
American officials and experts claimed for years and even proved that there are weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, but only oil was found at the end.
Pakistan Government can make such claims about Osama Bin Laden residing in Washington. The World does not run on false claims and presenting them in media every half hour. Tough a bit of power is enough to take appropriate action on such claims, if you want to do so and can ensure enough resources.
Where actually is he staying? I need some money from him (as said in that document, he gives money to any one who questions him). I did not found any trace of his possible houses in Pakistan. Why he changed his identity? He could have lived here with his original name (it was not impossible for American Officials to claim that too). Does he give away money with his new identity too?
