Can anyone shed light on the ideologies of Javed Ahmed Ghamdi. The article on Wikipedia portrays him to be a modernist and surely his view about many aspects have never been adopted by main stream scholars in Muslim History. Few people blame him to be Munkir-e-Hadith and a follower of Ghulam Ahmed Pervaiz. Few of his views cited on Wikipedia show that he believes the punsihment for apostates was time bound and Muslims are not duty bound to be fighting for an Islamic state. How did he reach to this conclusion is missing and that is what i want to know. The ideas are appealing but not necessary all that glitters is gold.
This is a reminder to all Brothers and Sisters in this forum who are residing in Pakistan (and also outside it) that they should refrain themselves and instruct others to refrain from the writings, speeches and programs of Javed Ahmed Ghamdi who is the head of Al Mawrid Institute Lahore, Renaissance, Understanding Islam, Islamic Issues ets.
The gentleman and his affiliates are deviants to the extreme of rejecting the Nasoos of the Quran let alone the Hadith. Ghamdi has insulted the Ulemas of Deoband in his book burhan.

Hadith to be direct
Nazool Eesa Alahi Salam and his Life (like Qadiyanis)
Had for an Apostate (Murtad)
Claims the 7 recitations of quran to be wrong (he is a close ally and aide of Daniel Pipes and Robert Spencer)
Music and Dancing of all sorts is permissible
Jihad against oppression is the only jihad allowed
The Shahadat of a man and woman are equal
There is no concept of Purdah (Hijab / Veil) in Islam,
Apart from this he is flying high these days by coming on TV brought by GEO Television. Mr. Ghamidi has special interest in Asma Jahangir and Qadinyanis much of whose ideology is reflected in his articles.
One of his student Khalid Zaheer is Munkareen Hadith Like Islahi, Farahi, Ghulam Ahmed Pervez, Allama Mashriqui. Khalid Zaheer is a professor at LUMS, Lahore (one can expect him to be in places like this). the following link gives some overview of Khalid Zaheer’s thoughts
Ghamidi’s books are Bayan, Mizan and Burhan, the last one being a mockery of Islam, Prophets, Companions, Imams, Muhaditheen and Mufasereens. They are seldomly available in Pakistan but are available at Danish Sara which are regional centers for Ghamidi’s Operations.
The aim of this posting is to request all members not to fall into the traps of Ghamidi. At present he is being fully supported by the Qadiyani Lobby against the Hudood Ordinance. The next target given to GEO and Ghamidi is surely to fight against the 295-C Blasphemy Law, to accomodate Qadiyanis.

1 Easy ( like , ahkam of Nimaz, zakat , haj etc ) which every one can understand
2. Medium ( masail , i am not getting the write word ) , grammer , where it is nessasary to consult some Aalim , who have background in that field
3 Not allowed , jin ka kisi ko naeen bataya gia, for example ALIF , LAM , MEEM
etc,
so you can't say that Quran is so easy that any one can understand
the method is to study along with translation and then consult the Aalim what the purpose of such verse etc etc

Secondly what i wanted was not rehtoric but as i do not have access to any of his works, i want to know how he has reached to all the conclusions cited by cricketplaya. To me he seems to be quite a logical person and i think there is no harm in doing original research. If old timer Ulemas have understood something wrong, it is not binding on us. Though i am not outrightedly believing him, however i want to know the rationale behind his assumptions.

Yes people call all sort of things to those who want to investigate and draw conclusion on their own. I do not know much about him mostly seen him on tv but he appears to be sound and reasonable person with a good dose of intellect. The issue of apostasy has been wrongly judged by mainstream scholars, who still consider political and religious affiliation as one and the same thing which in not true in most of the cases now, hence their judgement is flawed. And clearly contradictory to Quran.
Bro, I have seen him on PTV and tell you what he is an intellectual. No doubt about that. This topic is about his religious affiliation and beliefs not his "secular" ways of thinking. The mainstream scholars reject him purely on the basis of this religious beliefs. Those beliefs are not the same beliefs of the majority of Muslims. Again there is no sound proof that the mainstream scholars reject people purely on the basis of political affiliation.
