I’m currently helping my cousin decide on a bridal make-up artist. Considering my cousin’s taste I’ve shown her Shirley, Wania, and Jannel’s work. We are kind of split between Shirley and Jannel. I’ve seen MANY brides by Shirley and have never had anything negative to say about her other than the fact that her brides sometimes lack the ‘WOW’ factor. I had never even heard of Jannel before doing this research for my cousin. Many of the pictures on her website are airbrushed BUT she’s made most models/real-life brides look glamorous—the kind of look my cousin and I like. Can you guys tell me if you or someone you know have worked with her and what your experience was like?

I was going to go with Shirley but changed my mind as I heard a LOT of mixed reviews about her. Lot's of people said she doesn't listen to her clients and does cookie cutter looks.
I have never heard of jannel so I can't advise you on her. I also was unable to view Jannel's website as it keeps freezing.
Personally, I would pick Wania. She did my makeup for mehndi, shaddi and valima and I got loads of compliments all three days. I was very happy with her work.

When you get a chnace, go to her website again and compare her work to Wania's and tell us what you think. Unfortunately I haven't seen a real bride by either one of them because everyone I know goes to Shirley :-(

Oh and now that you mention Angell, I just want to let you know that she is also VERY good, in fact she would have been my first choice because she did my engagement makeup and hair (excellent job). I couldn't get her to do my wedding makeup because she was due on the same day as my wedding and stopped taking clients for a while. She might be working again because she has had her baby now.
I would say either Angell or Wania. Angell and Wania are both very good in makeup but Wania has the warm and friendly personality to go along with it. Wania is the sweetest girl you'll ever meet and she is SO nice to work with.

I'm afraid that my cousin will go with Shirley becasue she's in love with one of the bride's on her FB group. I told her 'You will look different, you can't expect to look like her just becasue you'll use the same make-up artist'. But she's leaning towards her, I can tell.
I wish I knew about Angell or Wania when I had my nikah. I went with a girl from Micabella's counter, it was a referral and she did a decent job but I had to go to a separate hair stylist and it was such a hassle. Now I'm better prepared for the rukhsati :-)
What about Zebi? She's good too!
Shirley gets mixed reviews but when she gets it right, she really gets it right, you know?
Don't know much about Angell or Wania though...
SGC, she would not have liked Zebi, she wanted a more made-up look.
She has picked Shirley...even though there are so many more talented people out there who ALL charge less than her! Some people equate quality with price.
But this research really opened up my eyes and now I have a better idea of who I'd want to try before I pick my MUA i'A.
Has anyone heard about Hafsa? She has a facebook page and a wesbite.
She seems pretty good. I know a girl whose older sister just recently got her makeup done from Hafsa. Her pic is in Hafsa’s “bridal makeup” album on her facebook group. Anyone else have any experience with her? I am considering her for my mehndi makeup.
