My friend said that he is going to 3 days for Jamaat. I know that someone thinks its “brainwash” and someone thinks its for good. I dont know almost anything about Jamaat so could someone tell me what that basically is and is it for good? And do u think my friend will change after that..?
Re: Jamaat
Jamaat… or jammiyat…![]()
Re: Jamaat
**
the poster meant “tableeGhii jamaa’at” like we have Jahovah’s Witness in the west. they go door to door converting people. the difference is, TableeGhii Jamaa’at people don’t go door to door to convert non muslims…they just go to other muslim’s reminding them of their faraiz in islam…like 5 pillars of islam
their work is noble but the methodology is not. that methodology may be OK in Indo Pak where it originated but its daffo not suitable for the west.**
Re: Jamaat
hmm good question, whats the difference? If i remember right he wrote Jammat, but i thought he wrote wrong and its Jamaat...
Re: Jamaat
IMO your friend will not drastically change after 3 days

**jamaa'at means Party while jamii'yat means satisfaction, itminaan and also party:
allamah Iqbal kaa ek she'r:
hamko jamii'yat-e-Khaatir yeh parishaanii thii
varna ummat tere maHboob [saws] kii deevaanii thii
here jamii'yat means for my heart's satisfaction**
Re: Jamaat
We've been having them come to our masjid since a long time now. It's usually a good experience when we have them there. I know of a handful of people who've been going in jamaat quite regularly. If it changed them, it did so for the better as far as I can tell.

A fanatic in the making, stay away from him - one day he will explode or start championing his rights to beats women & kids with a danda which should not be more then half and inch thick (according to some religious text which he will quote while beating off course)
As far major changing concerns, well first he will starting to have darhi & shalwar up (gangsta style), in the meantime if he have any business & job that will be lost but he will call it the will of Allah - then he will start telling you to wear burkha, and don't talk over the phone with na-mehram guys except him. With-in next six months as he have no job and no money in pocket, so well here is the turning point either he will become a walking zombie and explode or full extremist ... and then he probably will forcibly marriage underage or under 20 girl and have fun and a kid in next 9 months but wait... first he will make sure of the ketchup on wedding night.. ... then the life is continue .. and instead of working hard he will blame everything on the government and want Shariaah (as per his own understanding) and .. either kill someone or waiting for the time to receive orders from cave monkeys to start imposing dandey-wala-Islam in surrounding areas.

Re: Jamaat
^^Lol.
I don't think tableeghi jamaat people are all that bad, he definitely won't be getting brainwashed. I know some tableeghi jamaat people who are pretty cool.
Re: Jamaat
^ yes.....i have seen many people.....and they do change for the better (except going for long chillaas leaving their families behind)....and they are NOT CRAZY!
Re: Jamaat
tableeghies are much better and coolest people on earth, at least i never been disappointed by them.
Re: Jamaat
Re: Jamaat
People have to be very careful following any tableeghi jamat, a lot of them slowly and gradually brainwash people and take them towards extremism, teach them sectarian hatred and intolerance and make it look like all a part of Islam. If your Jamat is professing that all sunni and shia sects are kafirs and mushriks, and they are the only enlightened ones, then you need to run away and detach yourself as quickly as possible, because that's just the beginning of it.
Re: Jamaat
^ how many have you come across and interacted with??

That's right. The ones whom I know are pretty successful at what they do in terms of career and education.

Why are you so interested in the number pal :)
Re: Jamaat
Sounds like a modern Sufi Order…
I’m pretty religous but I have not heard of any such Jammat thing… Maybe this is unique idea from the Sub-continent?
I only ever knew of Sufi’s and travelling Mendicatns and Saints/Dervishes and Fakirs.
Myabe I might become a Jammaat type sounds interesting…![]()
But I agree with Khalil bhai I dont think it suits much in the West… then again you wont know till you try right?
Sufi’s were cool dudes if these Jamaat types are simmlar then they are for the better.
But I do know of some Petro Dollar Wahabi Salfee types that do a simmilar thing… is this linked in any way?
