Change is not an overnight process, but a step by step one. We need to change the current youth, who are aur future old. Moreover, If the guy refuses jahaiz, parents can’t demand it. Our youth have their own ways to get to their parents.

you’re damn right, but usually kids follow their parent’s foot steps and this goes on and on.. but yes we must try our best to stop this dowry thing…

No no no… Not “de dena chahiyey”. Unka haq banta he nai jab tak dad ba-hayaat hain. Kisi ka haq nahi uss paise pe jab tak dad is alive.
Beti aur betay… Sab ko unha haq milna chahiyey after the dad has passed away. Islam mai inheritance ka clear diya hua hai.. Kiska kitna hai.

Zarorat parne pe tou koe rok tok nahi.. Jab zarorat parey tab kisi k bhi parents help kr sakte hain… That is not jahaiz.

Well, I think Quran and Hadith teach us to give the shares to your children before you die.. this is a best solution.. and let us talk about the other way around.. If a boy needs his share while his brothers are having it and dad is still alive.. So does he have to kill his father to get his share ??

I think people who demand Jahaiz and also those who give jahaiz even when its not demanded , are in the same boat of Jahalat .
I know , i know , the supporters will come out to say , beti ko jo marzi dai , baap ki marzi hai . etc etc

But hey , look around you , someone gave jahaiz willingly and it became the norm of the society , simple jahaiz became a rat race , bigger jahaiz , unaffordable jahaiz . Jis ko deina hai beiti ko , why dont you just put an amount in her account so she can use the money for genuinely good reasons later in life?

we are three sisters and Alhumdullillah all married and the biggest pleasure it gives me to share that my father’s all three damaad’s didnt ask for a penny of Jahaiz and this in itself is the biggest character statement of the three damaad’s . Because the society we live in is very selfish . If not the man himself , his mother and sisters will keep urging to get samaan and jahaiz . Shunning Jahaiz is not something every man can do , it takes courage to break the norms.

mashaALLAH, and yes you’re right, it’s all about society, jahaiz na do tab baatein kerte hain and agar na lo to larki wale ye soch soch ke darte hain keh kahin hamari beti ko jahaiz ka tana na mil jaye… it must be stopped…
