I think its the script that is not working this time. Wasay Chodhri should restrict himself for the light projects like Baraat series. Writing serious drama and conveying a to the point message is not his cup of tea IMO.
Moreover, one can also blame directorship. MJ who in recent times could deliver through 13-14 episodes serials (Doraha, Malal, Rihai) fell for dragging mantra which started haunting our drama industry and destined for destruction. I remember to read that MJ denied to work with 7th sky due to unnecessary dragging for 'Daam' and now with around 10 episodes, where does this 'Jackson Heights' stand?
Vasay ch is famous for his light scripts.He wrote scripts for Mein hoon shahid afridi and Abhe to me jawan hoon.This just doesn’t sound like him.He failed to connect this time.They ruined it even with a dream team.
y dont they make drama on Upper East Side or Hampton?
Because we've already seen that with dramas like Maat e Jaan, where Aabhi & Haniya are obviously children of privilege with money and cushy, fancy Midtown apartments. This is just another twist, and I think a little more believable, it shows how tough it is to make a living in one of the most expensive cities in the world, especially for immigrants. I think it's also a good, realistic view for some people in Pakistan who may still think that all you have to do is land in America and you'll have it made.
The direction is not so great, but I like how they are showing a realistic view into what these new immigrants face when they get to Amreeka. Especially single guys working cabs or illegally under the table and how they live and survive.
I don't know what folks here are smoking but this is a great drama. sleek direction, thoughtful script, and good acting. saas bahu dekhna hai tau switch to hum tv please
