Re: Jabeens - RimJhim - Shakeelz - Zardozi
As you're already going to Karachi you should visit them personally to get better idea abt their work and price range ...
Jabeen's, Shakeel's and Zardozi are at Tariq Road
Rimjhim and Zardozi (clifton branch) are at teen talwar clifton, near KFC...
Re: Jabeens - RimJhim - Shakeelz - Zardozi
they're all in the same area on tariq road. the best thing would be to actually visit each and check it out in person. remember, they sell hundreds of outfits each and what you see online will be reflective of the purchaser's taste, so you can't really judge who is better or not based on that. seeing it in person is 100 times better! and if you do end up giving my aunt a call, then definitely go to jabeen's with her. she'll be able to get you a kick ass price for their joras- she does a lot of business with them.
Re: Jabeens - RimJhim - Shakeelz - Zardozi
Hey Guys,
Thanks for your suggestions Panache and SGC.. just thought if someone had some examples so I can get an idea of how their work is...
Planning to hit Gulf and probably Zamzama soon as I land there lol...
And SGC thanks so much for your aunt's contact info...will try to give her a call beforehand..
BTW do these places copy designs from pictures/mags just incase I don't like something they already have there??
Re: Jabeens - RimJhim - Shakeelz - Zardozi
As far as I knw zardozi n shakeel donot copy others design, not sure abt jabeenz though!
Re: Jabeens - RimJhim - Shakeelz - Zardozi
oh ok...I am open to anything right now but still want to have a back up just incase I don't like the ready-made stuff out there..btw do these stores have like magazines where you can see how their previouse end products looked like?
Re: Jabeens - RimJhim - Shakeelz - Zardozi
Just a little tip for my experience!
My mom went to Pakistan a couple months back and brought my bridal dress from Shakeelz. They have some really nice stuff. I wanted something white/ivory with silver. So she got that custom made from Shakeelz by taking soem ideas from one of their bridal lehengas. Anyway, so when the lehenga was done - it was amazing and everything was great. So he packed it for my mom into a small package similar to how they'd pack if they're couriering internationally. When it came here, and she opened it for me to see - well, it was lovely, but it had a few tiny pink spots on it. I was so sad! We couldn't figure out how that happened - one thing I noticed...he used pink zip on a white lehenga. I dunno how professional designers can do soemthing like this. So maybe the colour came off of that. Or maybe, as the dry cleaners suggested, could also be from ball point pens. Even the dry cleaning can't get it off.
It makes me really sad...because I don't want a new one. The good thing is, that it's scattered and isn't as noticeable...so if I'm walking aroudn and such, it won't be obvious. Plus I doubt peopel will even notice it. But it is a whiteish dress...so it still makes me nervous as to what if someone does notice.
Anyway, moral of the story - make sure you check everything when the dress is ready. Even the zipper colour. And also make sure you are physically present when they're packing it for you. Because maybe it is ball point and happened when they were packing it. Because when they showe dit to my mom before packing - it was perfect.
Re: Jabeens - RimJhim - Shakeelz - Zardozi
That's the difference b/w (an aesthetically sensible) designer and shop owners. Basically the above names are not the designers but shop owners who have the same mentality like of ready made shop owners. That's the reason I prefer good home base designres over them.
Re: Jabeens - RimJhim - Shakeelz - Zardozi
I had a great experience with Shamrayz at Jabeens. Rim jhim are Jabeens owned by the same people. Prices at rim jhim are higher because they are in Clifton. I found Shakeels over priced. I skipped zardozi since I don't like their style, it's a bit too Lahori.
I also went with the mind set that I will need to show them designs to get what I want but I learned that it's best to go with an open mind and see what they have. You can always add your details to give it a personal touch. And I'd also like to add that the reason why I liked working with Jabeens is because their stitching, fabric, and kaam was flawless. And they met their deadline.
Re: Jabeens - RimJhim - Shakeelz - Zardozi
Not sure if you left or not…but we shop at jabeens and rimjhim all the time…we have been since 2005…i love their work although they are bit on the pricey end…jabeens doesnt do replicas but rhimjim did a replica for me on suit..

Re: Jabeens - RimJhim - Shakeelz - Zardozi
jabeen's will not have a catalogue of previously designed dresses but they will have lots of already designed samples there for you to see and try on. our experience there was fantastic too. my sil was able to try on different joras until the found the one she liked, then they took her measurements on the spot and we were able to get down to the business of bargaining.
Re: Jabeens - RimJhim - Shakeelz - Zardozi
Shakeelz have a facebook group (Facebook) and you can email the designer as well for queries at haris_chawla@ hotmail.com as well. Their designs are really lovely though, and their own original designs

When I went to Jabeens, they did not have many samples at all. Rather, they had designs made to order and we were not able to try them on. Rhim Jim did have samples.
I liked the prices and kaam at Jabeens/Rhim Jim better than Shakeels, but Shakeels stuff is nice too. I've seen a really beautiful Zardozi bridal. One of the most stunning I've ever seen. But when I went to the shop, there wasn't anything in their formals that really stood out to me.
Re: Jabeens - RimJhim - Shakeelz - Zardozi
does anybody know what happened to think pink in clifton near rimjhim

that sucks :/ everytime we went, they had a lot of dresses hanging right behind the counter that my sil was able to try on. that's also how i chose mine- they had a sample they'd made for someone else and i modified that plus substituted kaam from another dress they had to get my outfit for my brother's valima.
Re: Jabeens - RimJhim - Shakeelz - Zardozi
By the way, there's a smaller shop called Shakeels across the street from what I assume is the original. When we asked, the guy said there was no connection. I do wonder if there is some sort of family rift.
Re: Jabeens - RimJhim - Shakeelz - Zardozi
^ lol you'd think they'd keep a different name!
