LBG - So today things r looking bleak for u, but this cannot go on forever. If u really cannot find any sort of job to keep you occupied, then do voluntary work. Look up organisations in your local area that need volunteers. It will also help your long term job search as it will look good on your CV.
I would also strongly encourage you to re-apply for PGCE for next year, this time if a ref stalls, chase it or go for an alternative ref.
Don't despair, keep yourself occupied. It is easy to feel that there is no hope for u in today's financial climate, but remember this, no person knows what he will earn tomorrow, if it is written in your destiny, u will earn some money from a good job and no one can stop it from happening.
