LegBreakGoogly: Yar know that when I say, You will get your break through soon enough, is not merely to make u feel better but its a fact inshaALlah.
Nothing we do in life is a waste, though some experiments that flop may delay us in reaching those destained goals we set out to begin with. Its all a learning curve. Having a bit of faith in the Almighty also helps pushing things forward.
Its a phase the most of us go through when all is so still, seeminly nothing working out. But there is plenty in motion for you, the only tragic part is we can't see it too well... cuz our thoughts are not really focussed on such lengthy details of our mysterious life span on this planet.
Don't give up, be persistant, it'll a draining process, but it'll come through one day. Don't lose hope my freind... Allah is there.
I think you are limiting yourself. until you find a job related to your field why not apply for some contract or admin related jobs? call centres are always hiring, and it's x-mas season hence all major retailors are hiring. Have you registered yourself to online job sites? try that.. you will definitely get some response there.. until you get a permanent job, consider temping. btw where abouts in UK are you?
oh man, I don’t know what to say. The economy is really going downhill these days. Forget companies, even small businesses aren’t hiring people. The future of 08 and 09 graduates looks pretty dark. All I can say is that don’t lose hope, and keep praying for ANYTHING and then take it and run from there. Good luck :k:
Insha-Allah khair. I will keep faith in the blessings of our Prophet on the ummah. I have considered law school, but it comes at high costs which right now are prohibitive.
How about Scholastic studies, such as Islam? We need more people who can study Islam and then represent it, so the media does not have to rely on pseudo-scholars who speak a few arabic words, and thereby are considered experts on Islam.
Just a suggestion...
And never ever lose hope, the minute you start feeling "it's too late", is the minute u fail. So keep your head up, put the past behind you, and march on towards whatever it is you want to do in life. InshaAllah i pray for your success, and for all those who are in need (including myself ofcourse). Ameen.
hey LBG - been there done that
i know 2 million people (approx. :halo: ) who studied this and have a degree in that and are working in a totally DIFFERENT field. For example, once upon a time in pakistan, every second deputy commissioner and SSP was a MBBS Doctor
so in short - be open and flexible
opportunity will knock .. rest assured.
Its just a matter of time - in the mean time dont lose hope, try to polish your skills, do some courses, keep looking, because if you stay in this frame of mind for long then you will develop an overall negative attitude and THAT is not good
Start some small business from home.
Free lance journalist/historian.
Start a blog on history and international relations , start some controversies on those blogs , which will result in higher traffic.
LBG - So today things r looking bleak for u, but this cannot go on forever. If u really cannot find any sort of job to keep you occupied, then do voluntary work. Look up organisations in your local area that need volunteers. It will also help your long term job search as it will look good on your CV.
I would also strongly encourage you to re-apply for PGCE for next year, this time if a ref stalls, chase it or go for an alternative ref.
Don't despair, keep yourself occupied. It is easy to feel that there is no hope for u in today's financial climate, but remember this, no person knows what he will earn tomorrow, if it is written in your destiny, u will earn some money from a good job and no one can stop it from happening. All rizq is from Allah.
If I were you, I would go for store job, since you will get good basic PLUS commission on contracts and payg phones. Since it’s x-mas season, sale will go up and you will make some money there. enough to pay off your student loan if you are good with people.
:biggthumb Big thumbs up for your effort to help a fellow guppy out who desperately needs our support and help.
May Allah reward you highly for that. Ameen.

in "Andrew Martin's accent" ...one is glad to at service. :@:
You guys are good folks. Really I appreciate it all. I managed to hound my referee into action, I send my PGCE form off today, may miss first round allocations, but as Allah and the Prophet (Peace Be U pon Him) wish for me will happen.
Some good ideas. GS should act as a recruitment service, got some smart folk on here. Small fee...find guppies jobs. :D
