2 marriages are broken and 3rd one is on its way to be broken. A bbcd and fob, their marriage took place 4 months ago…the guy was a student and family friend. The girl found out he lied about his education (he wasn’t studying) but the situation got worse when he asked his wife to make him paratha. Her reply was, “I don’t know how to”. The FOB guy started beating her up, she called the police and girl’s parents got involved and sent him back. It was an arranged (not forced) marriage. (fairly young girl and boy in mid 20s)
The 2nd couple got divorced after 11 months because they couldn’t tolerate each other (it was a love marriage). (both girl and guy in mid 20s and both bbcd)
And the last couple got divorced around the same time (11 months) because the girl (who was a doctor) complained about her husband being too soft (weird). It was an arranged marriage. (both girl and guy in late 20s and both bbcd).
An ex colleague of mine was dating this girl for a couple of years. They decided to move in together. She had an over sized couch and it didn’t fit through the doorway of the new place. She had a fit about that and broke up with him.
Someone I know got married last year, it was love marriage. They decided to get a divorce, for reasons best known to them, a WEEK later!!!
No has any idea why they separated, must have been something major. But people still talk about them.
It's really sad to hear about weddings to which you were invited that didn't work out. People look so happy and everyone is so hopeful at weddings.
I went to one such wedding almost 12 years back and the wedding broke off some 5 years later. Now whenever I look at that girl, there's a whole video of the wedding that plays in my head.. the mehndi.. the rukhsati..the lavish valima.. how happy they were. It's hard to get that picture out of my mind. =/
Yes it's pretty sad. My father-in-law told me about their divorce and the fight and it shocked me. He said people are becoming selfish and materialistic that's why more and more marriages are breaking up.
My husbands friend had a love marriage, but his parents were pretty against the marriage because they wanted him to marry his cousin from Pakistan. The whole family was sour faced at the wedding and causing issues. Anyway, 6 months later the girl was at home with her in-laws (they lived with the guys parents) and her and the MIL were cleaning. The girl said to her mil, why dont you call Mariam (guys younger sister - I have changed the name for privacy issues) to come help us. The mil went crazy and started yelling at her saying "you think my daughter is a naukrani that she is going to clean up. You are here to do it!"
Both the mil and dil called the guy at work and both complained and gave their side. The guy wouldnt go home that night, he went to my husbands house (this was before we were married) and said I am too scared to go home (lol). The issue didnt get resolved, 2 days later the girl went home to her parents and didnt come back. And the guys parents were telling him that if she left, leave her, that was her own choice.
Its really sad how fast marriages break up these days.
What's the point of mentioning this, or the fact that htey're bbcd/fobs?
whatever the "details" are, no one really knows what happens between two ppl. Divorce is sad in any way.
Being a fob or bbcd is part of someone's background along with their ages and type of marriage...it just shows things can go wrong in any marriage regardless of the background.
