Sahar and Sara: here is a thing.. I dun have a problem with them not sharing it but my problem is why promise or give out the wrong recipe.. i mean to the point where they ask you to remind them next time when they are around but still have the guts to give out the wrong recipe.. I think her problem is she wants to be the best... even though no one is liking that about her now!!
Anyway, I am going to treat her the same from now on.. no more going out of the way (printing out the recipe from work to drop it off at her place just because she requested it) to share any recipe with her neither am I going to ask her for anything now.. simple!!!
CA: I understand that but honestly I follow recipes to the exact measurements, if it says 5 black peppercorns, I make sure I count them before I add them in!!I need to graduate from cooking 101 :-(
I agree, Gemini. It’s a terrible thing to do. I didn’t mean to sound like I was making excuses for women who behave in this way. It’s just another pathetic consequence of the way our gender roles are constructed.
My aunty who is not very good cook, learnt biryany from my mum. and few months later we had some visitors over and to impress she started telling mum how to make perfect biryani.
my sister was asking her for receipe of Birfee and she wont tell her but later she agreed to help her make. so sister let her make it in front of her and she copied her ingredients.
and later modified aunty’s receipe and made really good at a party and everyone was impressed including aunty who than wanted sister’s receipe. and sis wasnt too keen about it as well.
LOL yeah I make excellent koftas.. just the way you told me long time ago
Totally agree :k:
Sahar.. As a matter of fact, your observation is quite right.. probably thats all they have to offer.. oh well to each on their own.. I was just upset that I didnt understand that right away but it took me quite long to resolve the mystery regarding how “secretive” she is with certain things!!!
LOL chipsyyy.... I would be initimidated if you ever ask me to share a recipe with you... in response to your excellent cooking, I can just come over, look pretty and enjoy the good food.. your dhai bhallas are one of my favorites.. I love the haleem too.. next time pack me some for home :$
and oh by the way, ask me for a recipe and I will haunt you down to make sure you have it :D
