Can someone explain the difference?
In trying to find info on the web, I am assuming, and please correct me if I am wrong, both mean trust having faith in someone.
Is the difference that itemaad is a noun and aitbaar is a verb?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Itemaad versus aitbaar
confidence vs trust
Thank you! I'm thinking back to its use in context and it makes sense.
But if I'm not mistaken, I think some people use itemaad interchageably with aitbaar to mean trust.
Re: Itemaad versus aitbaar
they do, just like ppl use confidence, trust and faith interchangeably in english
:k: Main ny bhi yehi socha tha:D

dono behan bhai hain ..naik shareef mukhlis ...istimaal main ik dosray ki jagag kabhi kabhi aajatay hain
Donon jurwan Bhai hu sakty hain Behan Bhai nahi:@: Kion ke dodnon Muzakar hain:silly:
Eitebar = **good standing, esteem, weight, validity, example, lesson**
Eitemaad= **confidence, trust, reliance**
Eitbar is a social quality, Eitemad is more of one on one and personal kind of thing.
Re: Itemaad versus aitbaar
Ay-yi-yi! You guys are confusing me!
Can you please use the word in a sentence in a way that highlights the difference in the words and not how the words are interchangeable?
Thanks!
Re: Itemaad versus aitbaar
Ok ..
Deputy Nazeer Ahmed bohut hee mu'atatbir aadme thay. Maa'ashray main oon ka bohut eitbaar thaa (mu'atabir comes for eitebaar, mean wo jis pe eitbaar kiya jaa'ai).
Mujhay aap pe eitemaad hai ke aap mera yeah kaam kar dain ge.
In both above statements, you cannot change one from the other.

Does the majority agree with TLK's explanation - any challengers? If not then it's a speak now or forever hold your peace moment and I'm taking this last explanation as gospel.
Thanks.
Does the majority agree with TLK's explanation .
Majority ka koi eitebaar nahi :D
See. another example where you cannot use eitemaad

Mutamid can be a crook, daaku ka bhee mutamid-e-khaas ho sakta hai. Mu'attabir is more noble in nature.
