Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) Chairperson Imran Khan said on Tuesday opposition lawmakers’ delayed resignations from the assemblies were not likely to impact the political situation in the country. A press statement released by the party quoted Mr Khan as saying the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) should have quit the assemblies soon after Gen Pervez Musharraf had backed out of his commitment to give up his uniform on Dec 31, 2004. He said the All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) would try to prevent Gen Musharraf from being re-elected to the presidency because such an attempt was unconstitutional. He said Pakistan was being turned into a banana republic where the dictator’s word was the law and all decisions were taken according to his whims. He said a public servant could not be allowed to run for any election and the APDM’s decision to quit assemblies was aimed at checking the regime’s unbridled powers. Besides, the opposition sent a message through resignations that it would not become a party to any unconstitutional step.
In the darbar of last Moghal Emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar, his darbaris told him that sub kutch accha hay, until he was dethroned and prisoned in Rangoon, Burma.
I wish he works on setting up more hospitals and the best of all, for gad's sake he oughtta do something about our Kir-Kit team. Poly-ticks is not his forte!
its again spineless PPP who is not resigning. they should resign and see what is left for musharraf.
but as always everyone want to be in government not through votes, but through deals.
PML - Q done that in present govt made deal with mushy just to be in govt. same is going to happen with PPP +/- PML-Q.
there is no idealogy behind any political parties, but they deal and wheel on one point only - to be in power to loot by any method. election election free and fair is just drama and to make people fool.
The PTI only had one elected MNA to it’s name - Imran Khan. It also had one provincial MPA to it’s name as well in the NWFP assembly. That MPA refused to toe Imran’s line and resign his seat.
**Separately, the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) decided on Friday to issue a show-cause notice to its MPA Mian Nisar Gul to explain why he did not resign from the provincial assembly. **
On paper he looks great: Great name recognition as a beloved cricketer, oxford educated, conservative in politics and trying to chart a new course.
Its too bad Imran Khan has not worked on a grassroots mobilization to build a support base. He needs to build PTI as a political force in either Punjab or NWFP before his rhetoric will have any influence.
^^ I guess he has realised and changed and engaged himself more at grass root and taking steps like a new party would do in UK or other parts in mature democracy But unfortunately this doesnt work in Pakistan. Paksitanis minds work like now are never by hook or crook!
if you become a 3rd or 4rth party, you will stay like this.

Well I hope he is effective. PTI isn't even the third/forth party Pakistan. I am not saying that Imran Khan is this great and honest politician, but compared to the NS/BB alternatives, he deserves a chance at PMship. Actually anyone but BB/NS deserves a chance, but thats another topic.
Imran is now resigned to the fact that all attempts to get rid of Musharraf have failed. That's all his political programme was really about.
^ Exactly. If had a party or even a base, it would be another issue. Imran is trying to play the issue based political game, but unlike the two corrupt ex-PMs, no one is listening.
As much as I dislike BB, one can not deny that PPP has been a player in Pakistani politics in every election.
If he wanted Kursi or money he would have been in Musharraf camp or collecting Bhatta.
If he deserved a one % , he would have got it long ago, but not, period! he is in the camp of opposition for barking against real heroes, and soon he will kicked out from there as ell, after opposition is finished with his sensless barks!
About bhatta, he already have enough ...But greed never ends you know :-)

tc,
It requires some courage to speak up against the most powerful man of the country (Musharraf) and the most powerful mafia don (Altaf).
He is one of the most respected Pakistanis within Pakistan as well as all over the world. Compare that to Altaf who is the most hated.

I agree about the being powerful people, yes they are powerful because people love them, ...
About the so called courage, well what imran is doing is similar when you walk on some street and some mad dog get after you and start barking, no matter how powerful or weak you are, he only barks, useless and nonsense barking, without any context and facts and figures, so what you do is ignore its barking and you move on! period!
Yeah it need courage barking like this, but to earn some respect among fellow politicians, some one need to talk with some sense, with some respect and room for other to answer, some give and take, with some manners, otherwise no one will care to reply to his baseless accusation!
If he has problems, why not go to our beloved CJ and fight with him, why sitting on the media and showing his real face?
