It makes me cry...

I was never the “crying” kind, but last night in my bed, I started to think about the whole situation in Pakistan. The politics, the madness, the corruption, the people, and sorry state of our country and I couldn’t help but cry, felt like crap and felt so helpless…

Sigh, I decided to do something, anything that I am capable of, I have been attending the local rallies to show my support but I feel that its not enough, its falling on deaf ears…

I told my parents that I wish i could go back to Pakistan and do something, and the response i got was standard… “tum kiya karlo gaye akailay?” ..

I have been sitting all day today in front of my computer, searching vigorously to find any news source to tell me what is going on in Pakistan.. I am in searrch of something.. but all I can find is that everyone is playing the blame game,

Blame the government, oh wait no don’t blame them, blame America as they are controlling everything. No wait, lets blame the lawyers, no how about PML, BB, MQM? no no its all because of Mullahs (Taleban)

No eh? for every blame there is atleast one person to counter it.. showing his/her support for it..

Sigh. I felt sorry for myself. There is an inner voice in me telling me to hang my head in shame, for I failed my Pakistan. My eyes keep getting wet with tears of desperation.. and in this desperate time i decided to start my web to make some noise.. www.saynotoemergency.com — there isn’t anything there yet except for a simple text, there is no context. Mostly because I can’t seem to get myself together to think of any..

I truely am sad and mad at myself. It really is making me cry… :frowning:

I am asking every fellow Pakistani to stop for a second and think about what is going on and please stop playing the blame game…

Our country needs us, we need to do something.. blaming each other is the easiest way out, but it isn’t the solution. I think at this time, lets put our minds together and lets unite for Pakistan.

PS: I am in NO favour of emergency, nor I completely support Musharraf, Nawaz S, BB, Imran Khan, MMA, Taleiban, MQM, or any other political entity in Pakistan. I support my country in any way possible.

PS2: It is my humble request to all the fellow members to please stop using the term “Mullah” incorrectly. If you think that a certain person is not well informed about Islam and he is misrepresenting it then just call them with some other term, we both knw that there are respectable Mullahs in Pakistan and they don’t deserve to be painted with the same brush.

Re: It makes me cry...

You can not imagine at the moment the spirit amongst the common people of Pakistan....It's wrong to say you are alone feeling all this....

Several students and young people amongst expats have taken leave and are reaching Pakistan to take part in these efforts....the movement is increasing like jungle fire....local members of civil society and students are coming to street....even 14/15 year old children are defying their parents and joining the protests....you can find in schools today students wearing black arm bands...

It's because of curbs on media the news is not reaching you wherever you are>>>

Re: It makes me cry…

may Allah give us and all the people the same feelings and sentiments ..as you have …may aAllah bless you with all happiness …

regards
wasalam.

Re: It makes me cry...

ansoo mate, you are not alone, many like u are just watching and thier hearts cries with pain.

Re: It makes me cry…

you should read more of Mr Aalsi;s threads… or watch PTV for that matter..
Full Thundd program…

Re: It makes me cry...

First I suggest cut down on onions please. They tend to bring more "ansoo" than are necessary.

Second! We are alive and well and doing just fine. So if you really want to cry, then cry on the issues that are impacting you daily. Unless Pakistan is begging you to pay money from your $$$ (assuming you are not living on dad's bank, or siphoning off public welfare check somewhere), or Pakistan asks you to part with some food from your dinner plate, or Pakistan is taking the tires away from your borrowed car, etc. keep your ansoon reserved for some "special" occasions. Will ya?

If you want to attend rallies, then pick the rallies who shout at the would be 7/7 or 9/11 Arab or Arabized Pakistani bombers. Pick some rallies that complain about profiling of Arab looking Pakistanis who had nothing to do with dastardly acts of terrorism. OK?

And leave Pakistan alone, unless you want to come back and do something positive like teaching in a government school, or cleaning up your street.

Thank you!

Re: It makes me cry...

yup.. coz everything that happens in pakistan is done by those arabs.. :)

Re: It makes me cry...

High respect to your concerns but if you truly gauge the problems faced by Pakistan and realize how they need to be solved you must realize how emergency is unacceptable, immoral, madness for politicians, their interests, the fans of democracy who think democracy is a magic pill that does wonders, but for Pakistan's interest, the emergency was important.

Re: It makes me cry…

Wowowow!! Hold your horses sir.
thora hola hath rakh yaar. itni phainko jiti lapait saken :hehe:
There is no qayamat Allah ka shukar out there in Pakistan. Not that we all will be able or willing to do anythig if/when there’s real or more serious qayamat

Re: It makes me cry...

Caesar, welcome to GP. Hopefully you wont be disappointed that that Mush has less fan on GP than PDF. :D

Re: It makes me cry...

Shamraz, Thanks for the welcome buddy! I see, not to worry, lets swell the ranks :D

Re: It makes me cry...

It's not as bad in Pakistan as media shows you guys. If you ask common Pakistani about all these developments then they would surely reply, "what emergency?". Nothing has stopped in Pakistan and life is quite a same as it was before emergency. If you want to save some tears then stop watching GEO

Re: It makes me cry…

May be there is no qiamat in the streets yet but really the hearts of the people are full of hatred for the dictator…what kind of Pakistani are you when people feel like actually crying from inside you are rediculing and laughing…If you continue to laugh away today your generations will cry on the destruction of practically every institution in the country including army…

Re: It makes me cry...

You are right to an extent, the life doesn't stop for a common person, after all he is already struggling to bring dinner on his table. He can't afford to stop, luckily or unluckily there are no street demos called by political parties which usually ransacks a city halting life to a crawl.

But that doesn't mean we shouldn't be in a mourning state. There are people who are worried for life, there are people who are worried for next meal, there are people who are happy that they can put more $$$ in their pockets than ever before, there are people who don't care about politics (have given hope on the society/govt/country) but there are people who care about country even if they are disgusted/disappointed by politicians/military/govt etc. I am sure there are many other types as well. Its upto you to decide which kind you want to join.

Re: It makes me cry...

Though I haven't cried but I have been ever so depressed by the country's situation, I feel helpless too. I am in same boat as you i.e. disgusted/disappointed by politicians/army/govt alike. I don't know if we can do something for an "immediate" solution but atleast we can start a plan which hopefully will result in betterment of country. I am sure you, I and few guppies are not the only small group of people thinking along these lines and thinking of some good solution for country.

Re: It makes me cry...

We can't leave Pakistan alone, Pakistan is our country as well and we wish Pakistan much better than what we have now. Though some people (including myself) have plans of coming back sooner or later but it doesn't mean that you have to go back to make a difference.

Re: It makes me cry…

**ansoon this going to make you cry even more.
**

Re: It makes me cry...

^It can make one cry, or it can give one goose bumps, but whats the point if we're confused and divided about who's what and what's what i.e. who's the real enemy and when and what action should be taken by public and how...

Very nice compilation. Good work by this Mr Adil Najam.

But for some reason it seems to me our nation is fooled by its own miseries.
Like a baby or a cat. it wants something and fusses about it, when you give something else with the right appearance and label, no matter what it is, they love it.

Same way, we love to sing songs and read poetry like this "hum dekhein ge" against labelled dictators only, and are such fools to never air any such fuss when we're suffering equally if not more at the hands of sugar coated dictators with label of democracy...

So what do hearts full of hatered for one man and that too mostly out of knowing half the picture do for Pakistan...will hate and bias for one thing solve problems?
I'm my kind of Pakistani. And I'd like to hope for better, blame where due, praise where due, and hope and wish for nation to act where due and cry where due. Trying to hope someday to work the right combination of these things...

Re: It makes me cry...

History repeats Itself...and we have learned nothing out of it.

Re: It makes me cry...

So you want to give the praise to your dictator who has arrested 14 out of 18 supreme court judges who refused to bow to him after physically attacking SC...

or declaring martial twice in his life time is a bigger achievement worth more praising....

I guess the image of Pakistan being labelleed as most dangerous nation after just eight years of your dictator"s rule (or misrule to be exact) is the biggest feat which really needs praising and everybody should accept the same as the right combination of things>>>

Really must give praise where it is due....and hope someday it will work....in a mental hospital may be>>>
