Istikhara confusion - serious replies please!

Ive done istikhara for 4-5 days now. I am a little confused of the results. For the last 4 days i didnt get any sort of signal when sleeping. But from what i have heard, you get the feeling whether something is right or wrong for you. You automatically get an inclination.

For one such proposa;. everything seems to be going right. Masha Allah. Every person of my family and his family seems satisfied and ready to go for it. Its all going really well. For the last bit of satisfaction, i wanted to go for istikhara. I am inclined to go for it but yesterday i got a dream where i saw a bunch of girls i know wearing red, black and white. Thats all i got. I am unable to perceive what it meant. Do these colours mean something? or the positive inclination i feel myself and my family should be it? I should be going through with it because i have a feeling for it to be the right thing to do?

Re: Istikhara confusion - serious replies please!

Don't go with your instinct because you saw a girl wearing red. That's like a traffic signal. It says stop right there.

Re: Istikhara confusion - serious replies please!

Or it could be a sing of a married lady i.e you :)

Seek help from a person who knows how to read these signs.

Re: Istikhara confusion - serious replies please!

No. If she goes ahead with this marriage Allah will send her a ticket.

Re: Istikhara confusion - serious replies please!

I know colours mean something but there were many colours, there were 6 girls some wearing white, some red, black etc. various colours. Colourful could mean something good too.

Ive always known that Istikhara basically gives you THAT feeling of it being right or wrong. Now that i have that feeling and see everything going well for me and every one involved, i dont see this as a negative sign. Maybe some one can interpret it better.

Re: Istikhara confusion - serious replies please!

You feel everything is going well and you're dwelling on the colours in your dream. Here's a newsflash, the colours of your dream don't have anything to do with istikhara. It is not red light green light.

Re: Istikhara confusion - serious replies please!

With all due respect - getting a "feeling" or "seeing/sensing" something in a dream is pretty subjective. We can choose to interpret something in a manner that supports whatever our inclination is.

I believe in istikhara, but I think there is a proper way of doing things - I would suggest consulting with a maulana or imam or aalim-e-deen on the proper way to do an istikhara, or in fact have them do it for you.

Re: Istikhara confusion - serious replies please!

**why do we make our lives MORE miserable as it's NOT already miserable enough? I've noticed that people do istiKhaaraas and then they do NOT want to follow through if it comes out against their wishes and whims.

I think one should evaluate the pros and cons and then make an educated decision. as described by Abra, the guy is a perfect match so, are you just gonna turn it down because you saw something in your dream which you can NOT even interpret, let alone know that its a sign from God.

i also believe that one should have a life style [this comment is in general] that Allah approves of before one can ask Allah's guidance. if he/she is NOT doing what is Islamically required of him/her [5 pillars of Islam] and Allah is unhappy then how in the world they have the audacity to go to same Allah and ask for favours?

we MUST do the basics of Islamic faraa'iz before we get involved in the peripheral rituals.**

Re: Istikhara confusion - serious replies please!

If you feel everything is ok and doing Istikara hasnt changed that view id think its ok to go ahead with it!

Re: Istikhara confusion - serious replies please!

I would suggest to make your decision based on your ease of feelings rather than dream interpretation.

Re: Istikhara confusion - serious replies please!

Your dreams are a representation of your thought processes.

Ask yourself what each of those colors mean to YOU. Let an answer come to you. Then ask yourself what is about all of these girls that you dreamed of. What do they mean to you? What do they signify? If there was a strong co-relation (i.e. a feeling you noticed) about a girl and the color of her dress, ask yourself what the two together mean. If there wasn't a feeling then let it be.

This.

Re: Istikhara confusion - serious replies please!

It is not necessary that you will see a dream after praying Istikhara…nor are you supposed to be expecting a dream. And the reason why people say they’re so confused is because dreams are open to interpretation and also because they find themselves in situations where their parents saw a dream…which comes into conflict with the dream that their highly respected maulvi saw about them…and then everyone is trying to figure out what their dreams mean.

Have you looked at the translation of the Istikhara dua and what those words mean? In the Istikhara dua, you are asking Allah that if the matter you’re facing is good for you in this world and the next…that He destine it for you, make it easy for you, and bless it for you. Conversely…if the matter you’re facing is harmful for you in this world and the next world…that He turn it away from you, grant you something much better instead, and make your heart content with His will.

The words, “make it easy” and “turn it away” don’t mean that you will definitely see a dream. It may be an inclination that you feel ..but it basically means that Allah will make the events in your life unfold in a way that show that either the matter is not good for you (in other words, it won’t go through or won’t happen due to obstacles) or things will happen with ease. Our culture has taken it to be that it’s some sort of rule that one must await for their own dreams or some other person’s dreams to show them an answer. And while, dreams can be from Allah…again they are not a necessary component of the Istikhara process. You can read about it below.

Re: Istikhara confusion - serious replies please!

And I've heard that "white" and "green" are positive colors whereas "black" and "red' are considered harmful/negative. But in your case, you saw all three colors. Which again brings up the point that dreams are open to interpretation and that they can cause much confusion. Why not keep praying....ask for more time.....do your thorough research and investigation about this family......ask others in the community what they think about the family....and then see how things progress. Some practical action on one's part is better then relying solely on the vibe received from meeting a rishta for a few hours in your home and ambiguous dreams.

Re: Istikhara confusion - serious replies please!

It would be nice if someone like psyah can shed some light on what one is to do in this situation.

Re: Istikhara confusion - serious replies please!

In istikhara, it's not like hey, I think this is what the dream/feeling means. You know for sure that hey, this is how it is. If you originally had an idea about things, if they are a go or a no go, them istikhara is just overdoing things, and can complicate things even further.

Re: Istikhara confusion - serious replies please!

i dont think istikhara doesn't necessarily mean having a dream and seeing certain colours. its all about the path you want to take. When you do istikhara, Allah guides and makes easy for you the path that you should take.

if you are meant to be with this person, then all the obstacles, barriers and issues will be removed, which will bring you to this person more easily.

if you are finding difficulties in being with this person (whether internal emotions and external factors), then this path was not meant for you.

but if are finding yourself leaning towards this person, you feel good, and everything else is "opening up" for you, in terms of being with this person, then put ur trust in Allah and go for it.

Re: Istikhara confusion - serious replies please!

Sometimes Afshi's talk is nothing but pure wisdom (operative word is 'sometimes') ..

Istikhara means asking allah for khair, it does not mean asking for allah's opinon (a major misconception amongst our people). As Afshi said, the right way of istikhara is to make a decision and ask allah to add his blessings in that very decisions.

Re: Istikhara confusion - serious replies please!

but what kind of dream or "Ishara" you see depends on how you are feeling these days (or about the certain situation) ... i hear about people doing istikhara and then going ahead with marriages and then have tons of issues and getting divorced.......so what is the point of istikhara??

Re: Istikhara confusion - serious replies please!

well that was ur fate, your qadr. Allah doesn't give everyone a perfect life. Sometimes when issues u do face make you stronger and it shoudl bring you closer to Allah.

and tilly..jeez..thanks (i think)
