issues of house holding & its head?

Re: issues of house holding & its head?

If I work, and he works, and we're sharing our incomes...then we share the housework.

If I don't work, and he does work, then I work at home-caring, and he doesn't.

It needs to even out in some manner.

I think Dushwari is just getting these topics from some Pakistani Khawateen Digest mag or something.

Re: issues of house holding & its head?

i thought she was unnmarried. i mean, just the other day she was lamenting over the fact that some guy wouldn't look at her. so what happened? he looked a nd you guys already came back from your honeymoon?

Re: issues of house holding & its head?

I'm the messy one, my husband is the neat one. He tolerates me :D

Re: issues of house holding & its head?

hey married ladies can lament that guys are not checking them out. keep your old fashioned iqdaar and tehzeeb to yourself.

Re: issues of house holding & its head?

…and whilst your at it, my autobiography.

Back to the subject at hand, i agree to what PCG said that it needs to even out in some manner, but i draw the line when it comes to sharing cheesecake.

Re: issues of house holding & its head?

I agree with Muzna.....if he comes home from a hard days work....I wouldnt expect him to do anything other than rest...

Re: issues of house holding & its head?

I've figured out where Dushwari has been for the past couple of days......

She was busy working on a report for Stats Canada.
I heard on the radio this morning that a study was performed and the results show that as compared to 20 years ago, men today are doing eighteen yes, count 'em 18 more minutes of housework. This gives the male gender a whopping grand total of 42 minutes out of the day that are directed towards cooking, cleaning and laundry.

Re: issues of house holding & its head?

Muzna your posts are hilarious. :biggthumb

Re: issues of house holding & its head?

canadian men are lazy..
although hopefully the study talks about having more tools at people’s disposal to help clean faster, more prepared or semi prepared foods mean that cooking time is decreased as well. also since it is an avg, it facors in men who dont do anything, bachelors who culd care less about their place, men whose wives are at home so they take care of the house etc etc.

and 42 mins a day is more than enough to keep the house running if both people are pitching in.

42 mins times 2 is 84 mins so almost a hour and a half. how long does laundry take, well lemme see, bring hamper to laundry room, 1 minute, load washer, 20 secs, pur detergent and start, errr 10 secs. clean dryer lint screen 10 secs, load dryer, 20 secs, run dryer. folding is another few minutes.

dishes, errr unlaod dishwasher 10 minutes, load dishwasher 10 mins, and you dont have to do it every day for a small family, maybe evry other day.

what else..I really dont understand why people make such a big deal out of cleaning and laundry, if maintaned properly, organized and all, it is not too tough. dont letthings pile up, done leave laundry allover the place, put it in hamper, put utensils in dishwasher after use, keep trash cans in each room so trash is in the trash bins and not all over..get bins or chests fr kids toys so they can be put away quickly after use..spend a few minutes every day wiping counter tops in kitchen and bath and you will not have to have a huge cleaning project.

5 hours a week is quite a bit, the activity that takes a lot of time is cooking, but if you break up prep time versus wait time and do other things at the same time.

begum is a friggin superhero, she can start the food, and then go run the laundry, and while food is cooking and laundry is washing, unload and load the dishwasher have it ready to be run right after dinner..wipe the counter tops..

my specialization is cleaning the floors, sweep, mop, vacuum, collecting and tossing garbage and recyclables. shredding stuff and dusting.

dont think we spend much more than 10 hours a week doing that (well we do if guests attack and then the aftermath)

Re: issues of house holding & its head?

I don’t believe you :grumpy: how about you cook somefin and send it to me? :lb:

Re: issues of house holding & its head?

cooking is a life skill.

expecting others to serve oneself maybe wrong. for both genders, cooking it self is a good thing.

best
