Legislation that would make Holocaust-denial committed overseas an offense under Israeli legal jurisdiction was approved unanimously in first reading by the Knesset on Tuesday.
The passage of the measure would enable Israel to demand the extradition of Holocaust-deniers for prosecution.
The bill was drafted by MK Aryeh Eldad (National Union) as a move against former Palestinian Authority prime minister Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) for his doctoral dissertation 20 years ago in which he estimated that the Nazis killed less than a million Jews.
I don’t want this thread to turn into a jew-bashing one. The part that caught my eye was that they are going to actually demand extradtion of anyone who trivializes or denies the Holocaust. I know that some european countries have passed similar legislation to punish anyone proven guility of this crime. But extradition!!! Anyways, use caution in this thread regarding your comment about the Holocaust, or else you might find your @$$ in an Israeli jail. As long as you dont make anti-semitic comments, or praise Hitler and only make academic debate(numbers killed, where, how and whys), then it’s acceptable. My personal view :ithe events of WWII, however tragic, were a neccessary milestone that expedited the independence of Indian Subcontinent.

Wait for the law which would require all those who lived anywhere in the world during the time Jews were "holocausted" to pay some fine (which would be counted from WWII and accumulated interest) for not stopping Hitler from doing what he did.

I think its a ridiculous law, they have no right to demand extradition for saying that "holocaust did not happen". Interesting. The legal basis (or lack thereof) for a claim of jurisdiction over this is the same legal basis for the Belgian law giving Belgian courts jurisdiction over alleged war crimes committed anywhere in the world.
The US government and any right thinking legal scholar absolutely opposed the claim of jurisdiction by the Belgian courts. Thank goodness there were such people with the foresight to see that such a concept of self appointed world jurisdiction was a travesty.
Now there were a lot of little Guppians with no clue as to the legal merits of the claim of jurisdication by the Belgian Courts who decried the US and others for opposing that jurisdictional power grab. If Belgian courts could self annoint themselves with jurisdiction over war crimes occuring anywhere in the world, then Israel could self annoint itself with jurisdiction over holocaust denial occuring anywhere in the world.
Hopefully, the US and all right thinking legal scholars will also oppose this jurisdictional power grab by Israel. It will certainly be funny to watch all the anti-Israel hypocrits though who favored the Belgian legislation now oppose the Israeli legislation.

US law makers don’t have to do or say anything. Thankfully. Those on the Democratic side who are dependent upon the support of the Jewish bloc would, of course, dance around and say a lot without saying anything.
Fact is, US courts don’t extradite people to foreign countries unless the basis for jurisdiction is clearly established by the requesting country (usually/always by treaty). No US Court would recognize Israeli jurisdiction over some skinhead in Ohio denying the holocaust at a public park in Cleveland.
Out of curiosity, did you oppose the efforts of the Belgian courts to assert jurisdiction over alleged war crimes occuring in countries other than Belgium? If not, why not? How is that any different than this situation?

Might I suggest that you apply that same type of thinking to a whole host of other issues like:
