Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

The only reason our family watched PTV over the Indian channels was because of its relative cleanliness compared to the Indian channels which although provided a million times better entertainment than the Pakis it was dirtier and unwatchable around family.

I’d not really watched Paki stuff for ages because every time we get together at family time we have family friends who lend us Pashto drama serials or a clean Hollywood film dubbed in Pashto so we watch them or English movies instead…

Maybe that’s why it’s a bit of a shock to me when I turned the Paki channels on, the Pakistani TV we were use to was Guest House (with the lovely charismatic aunty and her husband Shamiiiiiim and the cockroach who liked to be known as Jaan Rambo), Aroosa (the one with that pretty girl), Alpha Bravo Charlie, Kashkol, Aanch, Dukh Sukh etc. Nazia Hassan, Vital Signs, Junoon etc.

Now you turn PTV on and you get women with cleavages so big that half their things are jumping out at you and a (more or less) naked man in nothing but a skin tight lycra chaddi doing sit-ups on that meterosexual program presented by that gay guy with the long curly hair.

Is this the sort of programs we want to be watching whilst we’re sat with out mothers/sisters/daughters? It’s disgusting, we don’t want porn, family time isn’t for porn, it’s for putting your feet up with a hot cup of cocoa without worrying about awkwardly having to change channels.

The only reason we once watched Paki stuff and grew attached to it was because of its cleanliness, if we wanted naked flesh there is B4U, Zee TV, Star Plus with programming a million times better in quality than any Paki will ever be able to produce.

If I was randy I know the default PIN code for my set top box and I know which number to enter for Playboy or TV X, it’s disgusting we’re getting softcore porn on a supposedly Pakistani/Muslim channel. These idiots should do us a favour and stop playing Aazaan five times a day and the ArRahman-ArRaheem programs, because with all that music before and after it, it is sacrilegious and secondly I know my religion and don’t need dancers to tell it to me (like a brother once said one here we don’t need Miraasis to teach us Usool Ad-Deen), you don’t have to act like PSEUDO-Mullahs just do us a favour and stop showing the softcore porn instead, bloody hypocrites think playing Aazaan will redeem them for showing vulgarity, what’s the point in mixing religion and filth? I as a gentleman admit watching music videos is Haraam but I don’t go around trying to defend myself or legitimatise it or start mixing the ugly and devilish with the beautiful and divine, and misguide others by it.

All this is thanks to that greasy President. Like all that wasn’t bad enough every damn program seems to be based or set in a certain urban overcrowded dust infested part of Pakistan with all sorts of weird and ajeeb people who we don’t recognise and whose culture we can’t relate to, the face of Pakistani TV has completely changed thanks to these people, this isn’t what we related to Pakistan, when we thought Pakistan we thought faces we could recognise that resembled our own people back home, we thought serials set in beautiful places like ISB (not the overcrowded dunghole I mentioned above), we thought Kaghan, Swat, Chitral, Peshawar, green fields and water buffaloes of the fertile and beautiful Punjab… If what I see on TV is the new and future face of Pakistan then the little bit of emotional attachment I had for Pakistan is gone.

This is what you get when you have foreigners ruling you, imposing their vile culture and lack of morals/values (enlightened moderation?) on you.

Re: Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

best to just turn it off dude...
live TV is not clean anymore...and this is the gift of "so called progress" of Pakistan being given by its current leaders to the nation....

Re: Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

LOL @ you.

Loose the anger, keep the passion and then go do something +ve about resolving the issue - since its bothering you so much :)

Re: Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

It's called enlightened moderation, the better version of Islam. The Non-EXTREMIST version.

Re: Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

Why do you blame President for that? Is he telling them to act or make programmes like that, there are producers, directors who believe that the only way they can get money is to make these type of programmes. Do not take this on enlightened moderation, which has improved Pakistan's image in the world.

Thing is we do not live 90's anymore, what was considered clean is consider out of date fashion for some. Time has changed and I think the mainstream wants programmes like that otherwise they would not exists.

I would say write a complain to the network and stress what type of programmes you would like to watch.

Re: Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

actually in Pakistan u have a variety of channels to choose from. PTV 1 and 2 are still quite conservative. channels like ARY lean more towards liberal. Just watch PTV or Qtv. Media is afterall a business and they want the segment of the market that would watch indian soaps so they are trying to "indianize" some dramas. demand generates the supply.

Re: Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

^
This is PTV I’m talking about.

ARY is not even worth watching, I only watched Nadia Khan’s breakfast show because I liked her (not in a sexual way), a slip of the tongue and she’ll mess up her Urdu big time and say something that is so not Urdu which sounded like she’s from our neck of the words, but her breakfast show seems to have dissappeared, that moochay guy from Ilford seems to have dissapeared too but that’s good because I hate them sort of people and their qabzi (constipated) way of speaking.

MWAP it is Mushy’s fault, goverment has the power to control the media, all this shamelesness is thanks to him, as soon as he came into power our lovely graceful news anchors lost their scarves and were replaced with these greasy things which rock their heads like bloody pendulums (careful woman that TV cost us 2 grand, it will fall of its stand if you keep rocking your head sideways), I know the dupattas were no more hijab than a barehead but my point is TV’s moving away from all things Pakistani to something we can’t relate to.

But the flesh is far disgustinger than moving away from the type of programming we have naustalgic attachments to, like I said I’ve guessed right the PIN code for the digibox, papa set it to his and mama’s wedding year 1987  so if I wanted flesh I’ve got a multitude of channels at my fingertips in the privacy of my bedroom, of course that’s not to say I would watch anything like that because it’s vile. :snooty:

Re: Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

I guess no one has been watching pushto movies for the last 2 decades.
they were being made even during the tenure of mard-e-momin mard-e-haq zia-ul-haq zia-ul-haq.
as a matter of fact they are being made right now..while MMA runs the province.

why cry about private Tv channels, when private movie studios have been showing much more for decades. I can post someting here if you wish, from a pushto movie but last time it was posted by someone much of our pathan members raised hue and cry that it was offensive...and the link was removed.

These are private channels, not even based in pakistan, dont atch them if you dont want to.

Re: Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

are they not subscription channels.

oh your papa has locked you out, although you have broken the code. well..so you are what 15-16? kinda explains things now.

Re: Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

*LOL…:cb: *

Re: Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

Everyone has the choice to turn off what they're watching. If you find it too "dirty", then change the channel.

Re: Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

So you’re under 20, that really xplains everything
How many nicknames are you going to make?

Re: Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

sigh

Re: Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

Cleavages? What channels are you watching? The Pakistani channels I've seen recently are pretty decent, albeit bolder in relative terms to what PTV used to offer. But showing some girl in a jeans and T-shirt or something doesn't equate to vulgarity. Indian channels are still way dirtier, and they don't promote very many great messages and principals either.

These private channels have done much in the way of making religious programming more interesting, and has done a great deal of influence IMHO on the rise in interest in Islam in Pakistan. People in Pakistan are much more informed about Islam, which really surprised me on my last visit there.

Political programming is more frank and in your face, and there isn't so much political censorship anymore.

Its also ironic to me that you complain of the "vile" Pakistani channels, yet you yourself have a vile mouth when addressing the President of Pakistan who is doing all he can to prevent your relatives from being bombed to smitherenes.

Re: Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

The country is becoming so fundamentalist and conservative, it nice to have a liberal and provactive media which balances out the Islamic fundos.

Re: Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

Raheel Adam is making a point here. Maybe he is not clear enough for most of us to understand but he is kinda right. What I've heard about PK channels and PTV, these has changed a lot during last couple of years. I know PTV is still a decent family channel but they've and are becoming liberal day by day. Being liberal is a good thing if it is within the limits that our religion has provided.
Do you all think that everything they're showing is within those limits??

Re: Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

What you've heard about it?

First watch it yourself. Then form an opinion.

Re: Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

I agree that PTV is becoming more flashy and loosing its true identity. But i think thats just part of the trend our whole society is going towards. Pakistanis culture in general is changing and soceity is gearing towards West. I really dont know, why we put Islamic Republic besides our country's name.

Re: Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

You have some serious issues. One you claim to be clean and watch clean programmes, than you take the time to write paragraphs about women and how they dress.

Re: Isn’t Paki TV getting a bit too bold?

the same thing was said in every decade..I recall in the 80s ppl getting all excited about what was on TV and then when they started showing videos it was another big thing.

anyone recall the premiere of the band barbarian’s video on PTV, the next day mullahs were blasting it in all newspapers etc.

Being liberal in the limits of our religion were crossed ages ago…
