Intoxicated by a massive, morbid and ignominious propaganda campaign driven by a nexus of three major forces namely; religion, political hegemony and capitalism, more than half the population of the world sees Muslims as a threat to their culture, irrespective of what culture they may exercise, ironically many among the Muslim world who has both the resources and power to counter this propaganda has invariably strengthen the hands that injects the venom of stereotyping against their own fraternity.
Islamophobia, a term that was, probably, invented during first crusades, has become a political force to win elections, to wage fake wars to dispute and destroy the truth. Islamic terrorism and now “Islamist” is a magic word behind which any crime can adumbrate, any sin is pardoned and any lie becomes truth.
This psychological warfare has taken the shape of psychological obscenity, enjoyed not only by those involved in pornography of the truth but by all those who can use this philosophy for their petty advantages, giving rise to a culture of hate against a community specifically and setting a tradition of treachery generally.
How Muslims of the world so divided among them can withstand this grisly onslaught on their belief and may also counter it. What recipe of individual character should become a model voice for the community, capable of molding the opinion not just with mere words but with integrity of the character?
We need to show a soft image of Muslims at individual level. Each one of us working in western societies has this obligation. We need to come out of this rigidness and accept that we are living in western societies and need to follow their laws and (to some extent) their cultural values. This does not automatically mean that you should start drinking, eating non-halal food etc., but it does mean that you should socialize more and show with your character, without involving yourself into lengthy discussions, that you are just like them at human level.
More organized effort and investment in education, media, sports etc is needed. These are necessary tools for developing a soft image. An example, when my colleagues would see an Irani footballer playing for their league and winning matches, the image of Iran will definitely take a tiny little shine!

A recipe to fix the situation? Unless muslim countries get rid of corruption on every level nobody is going to step up and change the perception, the change has to come from within. Islamophobia only gains strength when we succumb to its implications on international level. Although mostly muslim domestic politics is embroiled in foreign affairs. The way to go is to follow the religion; the deliverance for Muslims has always come from one source. We have never progressed by forgetting our ideology and its unlikely we will now.

You are sadly mistaken my friend. People do fear Islam. They do not have the motivation to distinguish between moderates and the fanatics. This might be due to the fact that the voices in moderation are never heard. You only hear about these fasaadies as you call it. This might be due to the media. It is time that muslims had a credible media source. Yes I have heard about 'Al-Jazeera', but the reach of the channel is limited and there are times when the channel has sided with the fanatics..
If people fear Islam they are just ****ing idiots. Simple truth. If they fear the individuals that use Islam to push forward an agenda of extermination then they are rather simple. The comparision can be easily made with regard to nationalism in world war 1. Nationalism was the key cause of all the political miscalculations that led to the war but on its own nationalism is by no means an evil ideology.
