Was/ is it Islamic new year yesterday or today?
it may not be an Islamic new year…it may be another kind of celebration day

Re: Islamic new year
no celebrations.. muharram is a time of sadness
Re: Islamic new year
It’s one of the four Holy months which Allah :swt: has declared as holy…And no, it is not holy because Hz. Hassan and Hussain
were martyred in it…
It is the year the Holy Prophet :saw: did the Hijrah (migration) to Medina and instituted a fast on the 9th and especially the 10th of Muharram…(This is the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Musa :as:…)
(According to different traditions, you either fast 9th, 10th or 11th, according to some just the 9th or 10th and according to some just the 9th…Most authentic from my knowledge is 9th and 10th…)
It is OK to make Dua and say to other Muslims that may this Year be filled with happiness, peace and prosperity for you and your family…
So I wish you all the same, Ameen…
Re: Islamic new year
thanx lajooo!
Re: Islamic new year
:nono3: lazy daisy now look what u have done. lajwab has travelled all the way from religion forum to tell us that muharram is not sacred because the prophet’s family was martyred…but because of some other reason

Re: Islamic new year
^ and he is correct. The month was declared Holy way before the incidents of Karbala took place.

Re: Islamic new year
happy new yr!
Re: Islamic new year
Because Hz. Hussain
died in that month…
If any month was to be mourned in, it would have been the month of Rabi-al-awwal, because that was the month in which the best and the final Messenger :saw: of Islam died…
**P.S. In my previous post, I said 9th, 10th and 11th, 9th and 10th or the 9th…
It is not “or the 9th”…It is supposed to be “or the 10th”…
**Sorry…
Re: Islamic new year
Sorry...
jao maaf kia
Re: Islamic new year
What i heard was that Hz. Hussain (rah) and his family died martyrs.
and martyrdom is not something to be sad about, its one of the greatest blessings, something that salafs (Prophet’s companions and the earlier generations) would always pray for.
feeling sad, about the whole issue, and beating yourself to death every year, all these years…is a shia concept and a heterodoxy.
Re: Islamic new year
This is right time to celebrate considering the glorious state of affairs of Muslims around the world
Today is 3rd Muharam 1427 Ah
Islamically, regardless of any sadness, event or anythign, There is no celebration attached with the start of new years. New year is just another day
Although you may pray as you wish
Re: Islamic new year
Thankyou all
Re: Islamic new year
so much jahalath... yazids mother fasted on the 9th and 10th muharram - it is really wrong to do this. you should do faaqa.. but if you have any love for the prophet.. you wont care about food on these days.
theres nothing happy to celebrate in this month.
