Islamic date?

Guys I know I have brought this up before, can we not have an Islamic calender as well? If this is not possible, then just adding an Islamic date at the bottom of the page will also be fine. I am sure just like me, lot of people visit gupshup 24/7 and for some it is the home page. I really would like to see at least what Islamic date is today to have an idea. I can see at the bottom of the main page ( Today’s Events ) there is an English date, but it would be nice to add islamic date as well. Thanks

Re: Islamic date?

I agree.

It can be easily implemented...i guess nobody pushed for it...

Re: Islamic date?

cool idea :k:

Re: Islamic date?

I really love this idea. We hardly keep in touch with Islamic Calendar and some days pass by without even noticing unless you live close to a masjid.

It would be great if there is an option of choosing which Calendar you want. And I am sure some of the islamic sites have tried it. I mean you can get an idea of how to implement it into vBulletin. :k:

Re: Islamic date?

It’s an awesome idea…:k: I am all for it…

Re: Islamic date?

its 23 rabi-ul-awwal in pakistan today, its 24th here in bahrain, perhaps some countries have it as 22, some might be on 25, so what date wud u like to see????

Re: Islamic date?

It would be hard to put 3 calendars (showing 3 dates of the same calendar) at the bottom or anywhere else for that matter :halo:

Re: Islamic date?

That’s sort of hard to imagine…Two dates in one day happens with the Gregorian calendar as well…

So just use the day it is in Saudia…At least we know what Islamic date it is…

Re: Islamic date?

I agree lets go for the Saudi one..it'd be useful.

Re: Islamic date?

^:yahoo:

Re: Islamic date?

you took the words out of my mouth :k:

Re: Islamic date?

what about on those days where our "scholars" cannot decide until midnight if the next day is Ramadan 1st or Eid ul Fitr 1st? :D Poor Gizzy will have to stay up all night and then update the calendar when the announcement is made.

Re: Islamic date?

:CareBear: yea gizzy can do that…its an awesome way to spend ur lailatul qadr. :hoonh:

how many of y’all know ur islamic birthdayS?!! i always celebrate mine

Re: Islamic date?

don tell me u celebrate 2 b-days(acc to both the gregorian & hijri calendar)

Re: Islamic date?

^ actually thrice, - chinease year :D

Re: Islamic date?

This can be taken care of as a client-side feature rather than a server-side one. You typically display dates based on the client's system date rather than the server's.

Re: Islamic date?

This issue has always been a topic of discussion since I joined this site back in June 2000 [ignore the Join Date displayed under my name right now:snooty:] and as always this is bound to get a Lock. So, Please, get over it, stop wasting time and resources and lock it:D

On a serious note, I will say it again umpteenth time and that is my point of view that implemting only a Saudi Lunar calender is ridiculous to say the least. That will never serve the purpose of People finding out their lunar date of the day, unless someone thinks that we should follow the moon in Arabia and thus pray the Salaah according to their time also.

SO my dear brother and sisters, It’s Tahajjud time in Saudi Arabia; get up and pray and pray that May Allah:swt: guide all of us for He guides only those whom He wills and He wills only for those who are continuously striving to seek guidance with honesty.

Aameen.

Re: Islamic date?

itnee b-days…

Re: Islamic date?

at the end it will just be a guess-work, so what purpose wud it serve???

Re: Islamic date?

to at least have some idea of the dates. Right now most of us don't even know that.
