Islamic date?

N.American guppies can visit www.isna.net or www.moonsighting.com to get ideas.

Re: Islamic date?

Why is it so hard to call the local masjid and check with them? rather than rely on a calandar, which could be wrong at times.

Re: Islamic date?

best option is to have a drop-down-list box and let the user select their region from there and make it their permanent selection for as long as they want it. this way every1 will have the option to select & set their region islamic date.

Re: Islamic date?

^ You don't remember the days when the Eid prayer is offered on 2 different days because half of the poeple in the same house prayed on one day and half prayed on the next day. Yes, I am not talking about a city, I am talking about family members of some houses praying eid on 2 different days. How would you tackle that problem?

If you look at it from a city level, mosques are divided on new month start date as well. That's why the best option, in my opinion, is to contact the local masjid where you pray regularly (most of the times).

Re: Islamic date?

Aligning it to whatever is happening with ISNA is probably a pretty good idea.
This should not take too much work.
When people pray Eid makes no difference on the actual date. There is still a governing body that decides what the date is.

Re: Islamic date?

^-- When people pray Eid-Namaz on a different date, then it does matter with the remaining dates. They need to make their own calendar according to the date they celebrated Eids!
How can they follow the same calendar if they don’t accept it on occasions!!!

Re: Islamic date?

This is the best solution for all cases :-)

Re: Islamic date?

DA,

As I mentioned.....there is still a governing body that determines what the date is......no matter which day I decide to pray my Eid namaz on.

I know that in Toronto there have been as many as three days on which people celebrated Eid. Would that mean that there are three calendars running? Of course not.

I am simply suggesting that we accept the authorities that are widely accepted.

Re: Islamic date?

Funny thing the authorities made a mistake last year for Eid-ul-Fitr. I believe they apologized after. :p

Re: Islamic date?

Great thanks all...so all programmers of Ghupshup shall start working on this soon? :)

Re: Islamic date?

Clebrating Eid on a different date will change the whole calender. and technically those people need to make their own calender. Its simple to understand. They cant change a single day from a calender and then use the same for rest of the year. They can't take one brick out and leaving a hole.

If there were three eid, then their should be 3 calenders running by those 3 authorities, *are those followers follwoing them?
My question is why those authorities don't accept the fact, instead *we
accept them as authorities, and while we know only one out of 3 or etc is right ?

anyway, it was off topic or may be not! ...
