Islami Jamhoori Ittehad

Re: Islami Jamhoori Ittehad

^^^ Going after the likes of Aslam Beg, Hamid Gul, Qazi Hussain will actually help the cause of eliminating the support for Jehadis. It would be a case of "Aik Teer Say Do Shikar". PPP and Zardari should really go after this bunch of criminals.

TODAY
Justice Saeed Presedential condidate of PML N(2008) admitted that N$ and others recieved the money and the matter is still in the court.
No need to go after them. Some one has to go to **SC **only.

Re: Islami Jamhoori Ittehad

These are days of disclosing. (Atleast we shall be little thankful to democracy for this)
Is there anyone who can disclose about murder of Murtaza Bhutto.
It is linked with this thread because now we knew about consipracies against PPP by different quarters.

Re: Islami Jamhoori Ittehad

Do remeber the meeting between N$ and Usama ben Laden. He grabed the money from Usama even

This is really terrible thing to say Mostar. Didn't expect this to come from a relatively un-biased and moderate person.

Afsos.

with all the issues on the table, Pakistani local inhabitants have treated us much much better than anyone else in the whole of subcontinent.

If anyone of us can afford an air ticket to UP/Bihar etc., he can see first hand the pathetic situation of our relatives, neighbors etc. whom we left behind in the 1950s. Their homes, and their health is much much inferior than what I see around here in Karachi.

Indian Muslims are now almost the same in number as total number of Pakistanis. And yet the number university graduates, doctors, engineers etc. are much much less.

their ratio is much worse compared to our community in Sindh urban (for obvious reasons such as 100% literacy rate in mohajirs).

Oh Well some of us still think we have it bad in Pak.

Afsos.

That episode is also realted to the IJI fiasco. It has been alleged that some of the money for forming IJI was from Osama bin Laden himself. Al Qaeda, ISI, HUJ and other Jehadi organizations, JI and PML were all together against PPP government led by Benazir.

I don't remember. Can you give the dates of disbursing this money?

From "The new Jackals: Ramzi yousef, Osama Bin Laden and the future of Terrorism". Talking about 1990 general election, "Money was passed from bin Laden via Sami ul Haq, a senior politician and Muslim cleric, to Sharif and the Islamic Democratic Alliance (IJI), which became Sharif's governing coalition when he won the election. Sharif had said he would introduce hard-line Islamic government, and Osama Bin Laden is understood to have supported him for several years."

There was a mention of Osama supplying funds to topple Benazir governments in the book Ghost Wars also. Then there is the interview of Khalid Khwaja where he has claimed to be present at the meeting between Nawaz and OBL to get funding from OBL again PPP.

I can’t imagine if military of any country is so much involved in such deep $h!t. Why? Isay kehtay hain chori aor phir sina zoori. Might is right. I wonder where the morals of Islam had vanished when they were creating the fake alliance of IJI comprising of maha chor aor dakoo politicians.

Cabal of X-Generals–: A Club of former dictators - Pakistan - Zimbio

**Lt Gen (R) Asad Durrani **

**A former head of the ISI and now an active member of the ex-servicemen society, Durrani has

confessed to having distributed millions of rupees among the politicians in the 1990 elections. During his career, he held the posts of Director General of the Military Intelligence (MI) and later the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI). His role in the formation of Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI) is an open secret. PPP’s former interior minister Lt-Gen Naseerullah Babar even announced on the floor of the National Assembly in 1996 that Durrani, then DG ISI, had distributed Rs 140 million among some politicians for this purpose. This amount, he said, had been withdrawn from Mehran Bank and given to Durrani by Mirza Aslam Beg to ensure that IJI was brought to power. Aslam Beg had submitted in the court that it had been routine for the ISI to support the favoured candidates in elections under the directives of successive chief executives. Durrani did not deny the allegations and submitted an affidavit listing the politicians to whom the money had been paid. The affidavit said: “It was in September 1990 that I had received instructions to provide ‘logistic support’ for disbursement of donations for the election campaign of the IJI.” **
**Durrani has also enjoyed ambassadorial positions in Germany (1994 to 1997) and Saudi Arabia after the military coup of 1999. It was only after completing his term as ambassador during the Musharraf regime that Durrani started criticising Musharraf. **

**Lt Gen (R) Hameed Gul **

**

**

**Gul also boasts of having organised the IJI against the PPP and spearheading ‘Operation Jackal,’ a plot by the ISI to topple Benazir Bhutto’s government in 1990. Gen (retd) Gul had great liking for Nawaz Sharif for being the head of the political organisation engineered by the ISI. On the other hand, he was one of the persons who were accused by Benazir Bhutto of conspiring to kill her after she returned to Pakistan on October 18, 2007. Gen (retd) served a legal notice on Bhutto for falsely levelling allegation against him. **

**It is said that for his liking for Nawaz Sharif, Gen Asif Nawaz developed differences with him and appointed him DG, Heavy Industries Taxila in 1991. Gul refused to take the assignment after which he was retired from the army. **

**Senior columnist Ardeshir Cowasjee criticises Gul for taking too much benefits from the army. He has especially talked about his transport business, making ample use of his army connections for the purpose. **

**Gen (R) Aslam Beg **

**Some people are never directly in the spotlight but are just skirting the edges whilst influencing

events. Mirza Aslam Beg, a retired army general and former Chief, is just one such figure. Having remained a controversial since his taking command of the Pakistan army upon Gen. Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq’s death in a plane crash in August 1988, Beg has never laid out all his cards on the table. **

**A petition in the Supreme Court of Pakistan was filed involving General Aslam Beg in the misappropriation of Rs 140 million of public funds in the so called Mehran bank scandal. These funds were purportedly used for buying out ‘for-sale’ politicians through the then director general of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in order to manipulate the 1990 general elections so as to bring about the defeat of Pakistan Peoples Party. Interestingly, Aslam Beg was dismissed as the army chief just three month short of his retirement by the then president Ghulam Ishaq Khan apparently to counter the political aspirations of the former. **

Re: Islami Jamhoori Ittehad

^They all used to think it was their private money or gift from Allah by stealing from hardworking people of Pakistan (mostly Sindh). The tales of corruption are even worse during CIA shopping spree on behalf of ISI in Zia era. Drugs, arms smuggling were the norm.

Re: Islami Jamhoori Ittehad

N$ is asking a case agaist Musharraf.
I standswith him.
It is very justifying but
**N$ **should must be tried for taking this money before that

Nawazish has a good strategy. Clamin himself cured of corrupt ways but never return the money he looted or was bribed.

Same money and sources were used for promoting Altaf by Zia

Meeting with Ben Laden was arranged in a hotel of Lahore and money was recieved by N$ directly. It was very famous those days. Ben Laden gave a lecture for a long time to N$ and at last N$ asked to the common friend that "Koi paisian di Gal vi Karo"

His dastaan of giving away government money and government land to his chamchaas free is no secret. He in the capacity of Punjab's Finance Minister, Chief Minister and as PM distributed money and land as he was the owner of Pakistan. But not a single case was ever filed in the courts against these irregularities, which is a surprise for many here.

And another propaganda will be exposed as a lie inshallah. There is zero evidence except the words of jiyalas who spread this in the 90s to score poltical points with their constituents who rightly hated Zia.

Whereas, open admissions and evidence is available for Nawaz having been born in Zia's lap.

Wait till a retd general says he paid money to MQM as well. Then what would we say?

The whole thing proves just one thing.

Our politicians take money from lobbyists too. Who said we haven't learned anything from the American political system.

I guess they haven't been able to force a general to lie so far.

Daily Times Monitor

LAHORE: The Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) gave millions of rupees to different politicians during former president Ghulam Ishaq Khan’s regime and no one has ever denied receiving money from the agency, former chief justice of Pakistan Saeeduz Zaman Siddiqui said on Wednesday.

Talking to a private TV channel, he said the ISI was an intelligence agency and should not interfere in politics, or be used against politicians. He said former ISI director general Lt Gen Asad Durrani had informed the Supreme Court that he had given money to politicians, ostensibly to ‘convince’ them to join the Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI).

Justice (r) Siddiqui told the channel that he had said at that time that the ISI’s role should not be political. He said the case was still pending in the Supreme Court at the time of the 1999 coup. He said Lt Gen (r) Durrani had presented an affidavit in court, giving details of the money distributed to different politicians.

According to the affidavit, then chief of army staff General (r) Mirza Aslam Baig had advised the intelligence agency in September 1990 that it should give logistic support to the transfer of funds from the business community in Karachi to the IJI during the 1988 election.

According to the written affidavit of July 24, 1994, Lt Gen (r) Durrani said he was informed at the time that the step had the government’s complete support. After the orders, he said he opened a number of accounts in banks in Karachi, Rawalpindi and Quetta.

A man from Karachi named Younas Habib had deposited Rs 140 million in a bank account and the rest of the money was transferred to a special fund.

According to the affidavit, acquired by the TV channel, former caretaker prime minister Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi received Rs 5 million, former Sindh chief minister Jam Sadiq Rs 5 million, former prime minister Muhammad Khan Junejo Rs 2.5 million, Nawaz Sharif Rs 3.5 million, senior politician Pir Pagaro Rs 2 million, the Jamaat-e-Islami Rs 5 million, Mir Afzal Khan Rs 10 million, Abida Hussain Rs 1 million, Lt Gen Rafaqat Rs 5.6 million for managing the media campaign, Humayun Marri Rs 1.5 million, former prime minister Zafarullah Jamali Rs 4 million, Kakar Rs 1 million, Jam Yousaf Rs 0.7 million, Hasil Bizenjo Rs 0.5 million, Nadir Mengal Rs 1 million, Altaf Hussain Qureshi and Mustafa Sadiq Rs 0.5 million, Salahuddin Rs 0.3 million, smaller groups Rs 5.4 million and others received Rs 3.339 million.
