Lahore, Pakistan - Why would I drive 4-1/2 hours to see a Pakistani movie?

Well, for starters, the only movie theater in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, was torched by a Sunni mob during sectarian riots four years ago.

Re: Islamabad has no movie theater?

There will be soon one, called “Ghazi Mahal” adorned with big posters from yesteryears pics of Anjuman.

Re: Islamabad has no movie theater?

They should build 1 cineplex in Islamabad where they can show Hollywood movies and hold movie premiers

Re: Islamabad has no movie theater?

Islamabad has a big theater in islamabad club , i had seen a english-urdu drama there
and all the elite (big boss ) of islamabad use to see english dramas there
i don’t know that is used for english movies or not
but i certainly know that that club is not used for urdu, punjab etc movies

Rawalpindi is full of cinemas

and you know even if you combine both islamabad and rawalpindi , it will be smaller then karachi , so no need to drive a lot

Re: Islamabad has no movie theater?

Rawalpindi have , all who wants to see Hollywood movies they come here in rawalpindi

Re: Islamabad has no movie theater?

second movie is on cinema here in rawalpindi after a week
that is in rawalpindi it is on cinema from 27th while in lahore etc it was from 20th

and why they have not shown here on 20th the reason , more and more should come to lahore

Re: Islamabad has no movie theater?

can't believe a city as modern as islamabad doesnt have a proper movie theatre

Re: Islamabad has no movie theater?

Islamabad doesn't need a movie theatre, it has aunty Shamim, better entertainment.

Re: Islamabad has no movie theater?

actually there is no need
when you have many cinemas at a distance of 20 to 30 min drive

Re: Islamabad has no movie theater?

there seems to pure demand and supply theory, the kind of movies Pakistan Film Industry produces does not target the Islamabad audience, infact they are not fans of Hollywood / bollywood movies and if any of the Islamabad resident wishes to watch one the can easily drive to Rawalpindi or buy a DVD.

Beside Cinema owners like to construct halls in higly populated area so that they can have max. number of spectators...

Re: Islamabad has no movie theater?

What about Melody? Just few furlongs away from the Lal Masjid. And NAFDEC cinema!

Re: Islamabad has no movie theater?

why would someone drive 20-30 minutes to watch a movie, when they can go to a much more upscale place in Islamabad and after that they can go to dinner or something....

I mean there is a demand for watching American movies with more upscale people rather than watching Pakistani movies with tonga and rickshaw drivers

Re: Islamabad has no movie theater?

They are not fans of Hollywod and Bollywood movies? smoke ganja much?

Re: Islamabad has no movie theater?

Whos aunty shamim???

Re: Islamabad has no movie theater?

says who!.. they got parliament and supreme court… :chai:

Re: Islamabad has no movie theater?

Please tell me where in Rawalpindi do they have the movie theaters that show american movies? Also are they family friendly and decent...(clean/safe/comfy/provide refreshments?)
