I completely agree wth silaaj here the point is not whether zumurd khan is from ppp or any other party but his actions. police was trying to mentally exhaust him so tht he himself surrender now wht happened zumurd khan attacked him he fired and then police has to fire which resulted in him n his wife in ICU God forbid if something happened to their kids they were so close if any fire hit them then so no point of praising him , just be thankful tht zumurd foolishness didn't end in some disaster considering the idot crowd n smll kids standing there.

Finally this drama came to its end but the way it happened was not good. Role of zamarud khan is weird. Everyone is praising him but he showed bravery that crossed the borders of stupidity. Police should not have allowed zamarud to deal with this guy. It could have been a commando in guise of a civillian official. zamarud khan's action could have been disastrous. Islamabad police showed its inability to make decisions and turn them in to actions. What they did in the end should have been done earlier before getting the attention of media and 'tamashbeens (who were 'terrorized' by the gunman).

Ch Nisar addressing press conference right now about the incident. Must say he is making sense. He has taken responsibility for the prolonged stand off because he did not want the man shot in front of his family. He has also questioned media's hampering role during the stand off.

While praising Zamarrud Khan, Ch nisar has vowed to suspend the policemen involved in giving zamarrud khan access to Sikandar.

Actually, it was our media doing the laughing, because really, between playing indian media content and cursing everything Pakistani, they have nothing better left to do in this world. The public at large should not even have been watching this spectacle. And many responsible media personnel made a point to state that if cameras had not been there, this saga would have been over much sooner.

This statement is surprising. You do realize that his step was not bold, rather it was a gamble? He gambled with the lives of dozens of people, and one misstep could have caused a catastrophe. Now using the same analogy, we can also set this Sikandar guy free, saying that ‘uss ney kisi ko qatal to nahi kiya. Kar sakta tha, lekin kiya to nahi’. Im not assuming anything here. Im talking a fact that endangered people’s lives more than Sikandar’s own actions.

Problem is, our police is politically appointed, and do not dare talk back to a politician. That is why folks like Nabil Gabol and Zamurad were able to make their way to the front line, without any check and balance. In a normal society, noone would have been allowed anywhere close.

I gave the US example as an example of patience on part of the negotiating party. Of course the US guy had enough food to last several days, which is why the police were patient for that long. In yesterday’s case, the guy had enough food to last a day perhaps. And the police, as I said before, were tiring him out in order to force him into submission without use of force. And they were on the verge of that, which is why everything ended without any deaths, even after Zamurad’s blunder.

You are assuming a lot of things. Remember, it was the SSP who had been negotiating with him, and he knew a lot more than we did, which is why the police were showing patience and restraint. If there had been a hint of trouble, the police would have/could have taken him out. They had a million chances. Did you not see the guy walking freely, by himself, in plain sight? At times, drinking red bull while smoking a cigarette, with no ‘hostage’ close by? Snipers could have taken him out with one hand tied behind their backs…but there was a reason why they were holding back. And it was certainly not in order to let Zamuradman come in and be a hero.

As I said earlier Silaaj, there ARE few points I must agree with you BUT I don’t find any good reasons to argue over something which has NEVER happened. I don’t know why you can’t get my point. It is as simple as that.. My point is… lets not argue over kiya ho sakta tha… honay ko bohat kuch ho sakta tha… what we have to talk about is kiya hoa and uska conclusion kia nikla… wo why tu tu me me?? I even admit that the scenario would certainly have been different if he had been the reason of people being killed around… but aisa hoa nahin… !! So don’t you think we should be grateful?? Han wo step stupid tha MAGAR DARING BHI tha… I am not emphasising on how stupid was his act, I am just telling, that indeed it was DARING too!! We see, we conclude it as a stupid act.. what if some other step would be taken and it could risk hundreds of lives, then?? You see what you SEE, you don’t see that never happened but COULD happen..!! and again… I would be really mean if I say his act was just for RATINGS… I completely deny this statement!!

Last I met him at Liaqat Bagh and he told us the story about how Musharraf’s goons came in minutes after BB’s assassination and cleared up the mess and washed away the site in minutes.

What happened was very idiotic. Please, there was nothing heroic about what the wannabe shaheed did. Khair jo hona tha so ho gaya. The question is, if something like this happens again, will they be better prepared next time? Are they going to be provided with the necessary training? Are they going to implement the proper preventive measures? How are they going to control the crowds etc etc. Something good can come out of such incidents only if some lessons are learned and a revised/improved course of action is implemented.

Let me be the Devil's advocate but i think Rehman Malik was a better interior minister than Ch Nissar.
At least he would have gone there personally or faced the media since the first minute and made tons of promises. Ch Nissar was nowhere to be found.

Chor-dhary Nisar was doing press conference from Lahore. He was MIA from the national assembly session and was appropriately criticized by both the opposition parties.

This is pathetic. That there are people walking around with such guns and ammunition freely in Pakistan, that they can hold up an entire capitol city. Security is CRAP in the city and in the country - why? Cuz every choosa gets to hold a gun.

What sickens me is that his wife was in on it, and they had the kids with them watching the whole thing.

This is how you demand Islam? What kind of Islam? Where you try to hold a city in seige with your guns with your two little kids watching - what are those kids going to grow up thinking now that they saw their dad shot while he and mom were screaming for Sharia and Quran holding guns??

How is this not deemed DESPICABLE. And of course the retarded media would capitolize on this, they should have been giving him galian while on phone interview with him.
