What is a big deal? Benazir International Airport sounds good when pilot announces before landing. People think perticularly the foreign visitors when they hear "Islamabad Airport" as they are coming to land of Taliban or Algaeda. Benazir was elected PM and was killed by khanzirs. Aren't many international air ports named after famous leaders? None have ever objected even oppositiions came to power. If you feel pain you know where pass the resolution in assembly and change the name.

That is the common sense and respect for any country. Here anti PPP passion want to even break the country but they don't want to listen the word PPP and its leaders who always came to the corridors of power through people's vote not through back doors. They have given their lives for the sake of democracy which none of the present political parties have this credit. Most of these tonga parties have lived their lives by playing b-teams of fauji generals. They have even taken bribes from generals to oppose PPP at any cost. These haters have niether respect for their country nor its people perhaps not for themselves too.
Naming of airport is fine, but an entire city? That would be wrong.
The real problem would emerge later when God forbid Ganja Sharif takes over PM role, he will make sure that Benazir airport is completely neglected and airport around his neighborhood gets promoted to full scale.
To get to the Benazir Airport you need to pass the Benazir Hospital while on the Benazir Road. I am not even kidding, this is how they have renamed Murree Road, General Hospital and the airport in Rawalpindi.
I hope this name will never be changed as he was true friend of Pakistan. I agree with you that passion of naming everything as Benazir is uncalled for. This sounds stupid.
In past there are number of monuments or sights named such as Ayub Bridge, Ghulam Mohammad Barrage, Ayubia etc, none have ever objected and why it should be. Let these names continue to remind the era when these people ruled Pakistan.
Islamabad airport is the most crappiest airport I have ever been in and believe me I travel all over the Middle East and Africa. I say let them call the airport Benazir airport. Both the airport and the performance of Benazir as PM are a match. She deserves to have that airport named after her. Let the PPP folk rejoice.
And what about renaming the General Hospital Rawalpindi which has now become Benazir Bhutto Hospital?
And Murree Road that has become Benazir Bhutto Road

How about we first restore Faisalabad to Lyallpur? Naming an airport after a former PM is much more acceptable than naming an entire city after some foreign king.
While we're at it, let's restore Chanab Nagar to Rabwa. There are plenty of stupid naming decisions in Pakistan. Islamabad airport falls very low on the stupidity scale.
Actually, on second thought, PPP govt should upgrade some small airport (or make one good airport) then name it after BB, renaming aan existing one seems more like stealing credit.

The convention behind naming landmarks after some ex-PM/President is that there must be a broad consensus, and the personality must be liked by a broad spectrum of the public. Benazir was a corrupt feudal, and certainly did not fall into the above categories. She was a failure as a PM. God forbid if in the future, PPP were to suggest naming some landmark after Zardari.
