"Islam preaches hatred," Franklin Graham

I condemn Islam when it comes to women and slaves and homosexuals, mainly because I am a woman, I am bisexual, and I like slaves.

If whatever Allah says has a valid reason behind it then prove to me that women are treated fairly when they have to wear hijabs and cover their bodies and stay chaste, that adulterers are treated fairly and not instructed to be stoned to death, that Islam is not dogmatic and extreme by telling people to kill those who do not believe, and that homosexuals are not treated and supposedly should be (according to Islam) treated with disdain because what the 'crime' they are committing is unnatural and disgusting. Anf prove this to other people here, like millions and millions others in this world, that Islam is fair when it comes to these things.

As for looking for the good things in Islam and implying forget about women, homosexuals, and slaves, isn't that inhuman? After all, women make up 50 percent of the population or more, so 5o percent of the woman are instructed to be hidden from male lus, and there are reportedly 10 percent of people who admit to having homosexual tendencies. That basically leaves straight males, only 48 percent of the population, that Islam instructs power to be given to in this misogynistic and patriarchal religion, with Eve being created second and from Adam and women having to go through extreme troubles over the course of this lifetime, none of them, including covering up, that are really necessary.

as far as hijab is concerned..its for a woman's own protection. Modesty is not for women only..it applies to men as well. I think i've said the same thing before in a similar post...men and women are different in many ways, including physically. That's why our ways of modesty are different as well. If u have a problem covering your hair, dont do it..just dont attack something u personally dont understand or want to do.
Islam isnt about choosing the teachings which best suit u while discarding the ones that dont.
If u see unfair treatment of women in Muslim societies, dont blame the religion. Islam is not to be criticized for the practices of its followers. God has given each and every one of us free will and we only are responsible for our actions.....so if a man treats women with disrespect, dont blame Islam.
And btw..Islam doesn't tell women to hide in harems. Women are allowed to go out, work, own a business, engage in politics etc. It is unfortunate that women throughout history have been subjugated by male dominated societies..but then, name one society that didnt treat women like second class citizens?
Again, Islam is not to be blamed for this..
Take Islam out of it for a second....in the west itself, no decent woman with self-respect would go out dressed as Britney Spears. everyone has their own understanding of what modest and respectful is, and for a Muslim woman, its hijab. I was watching the after-show of the program Oprah did on Islam and it really pleased me to see educated and independent women of all ages and races, wearing hijab..defending it as their personal choice. I've seen how women wearing hijab are treated with respect, excluding the ignorant minority who see it as a symbol of oppression. The overwhelming majority of women wearing hijab out there, do it because they want to, not becaus someone told them to. If they dont see it as oppressive, then i dont see what the problem is. How can putting a small scarf on your head oppress u anyway?
As for the punishment for adultery....u obviously think its barbaric and all. Adultery is a major sin which violates one's commitment to their spouse and most important of all, God. Surely the Quran tells us to question our beliefs and not just accept them blindly..but then some things u accept because u know that's how God says they should be. Same with the homosexuality issue. If u question the validity of the teachings of the Quran, then u doubt God Himself.

"Nothing Important Happened Today"

.

okay im tired of sounding like a broken record here. On most issues, we'll just have to agree to disagree.
As for why men have a different level of modesty..like i said before, males and females are different physically. Men definately are required to dress modestly, not go around wearing tight, little shorts. Another thing is that women by nature have more self control then men..like i said before, we're different from men physically and in nature. How many women go around raping men? how many women do u see on the streets, whistling, staring or hurling abuse at men walking by? I mean, i dont mean to sound sexist or anything but those are just things that some men do, its a part of their nature.
I hope i've brought my point across..im no Islamic scholar but i've done my best to say what my level of knowledge allows me to. For serious questions like u have, u definately wont find solid answers from us guppies..there's some amazing Islamic scholars out there who can address these questions.

btw..i just recalled u're question about why God would make men so lusty of women. Like i said before, God has made both men and women different by nature. Not every man out there is lustful ofcourse. Its sort of like asking why evil exists, or why bad things happen to good people etc etc. Everything God does has a reason, we can't understand all of 'em, if we had an answer for everything we wouldn't need God would we?

Ok slightly off the topic, my thoughts on this. Your need to parade your sexuality is your business, but I’m sure you'll accept my right to speak my mind. You are abnormal, but then again, who is normal? Everyone is born sinless. Circumstances corrupt. Some are corrupted more, some less. Now if you strive to come back to the right path, the difficulty for you will be directly proportional to your level of deviation. My logic, if circumstances were such that the odds were stacked against you, and you still come back to ‘siraat-al-mustaqeem’ (the straight path) your reward will be much greater as you were not dealt the right cards to begin with.

Now if you just want to argue and debate the heck out of it, you can apply the same logic towards me. I am abnormal, because I refuse to see the normality of BI-sexuality. So in the end, if you want to call yourself a member of a certain religion, live by it's standards. Otherwise, create your own.
