well.. i find the news story a little misleading, 'islam' as a whole may be more than catholics but no all christians.

its like saying sikhs outnumber ismailis so sikhism is larger than islam in terms of number of adherents.

either way

in the end quantity is great but quality is paramount

long way to go... but again we are sunni, shia, barailvi, wahabi, dubandi etc etc, but not a REAL muslim.

I think the news has a prpogandist element to it. It's geared more towards the apprehensive European 'Christian' masses that are fearful of an Eurabia. Besides this is no accomplishment to be proud of: High Birthrate+Petrodollar funded Missionaries.

Give me the Islamic Caliphates of Baghdad or Al-Andalus over this milestone, anyday.

I don't appreciate your condescending messages towards large swaths of the Ummah.

What does literacy have to do with striving to be a better Muslim? Many of the Sufis and other missionaries were illiterate in the modern day definition of the word. In fact even our great Prophet (PBUH) was illiterate in within his Arab society.

So step off your high horse of false correlations and irrelevant nonsense.

We have enough Muslim haters in this world.

In addition to the point mentioned by X2, that this is comparing a sect of christianity (Catholics) versus all kinds of muslims, so its kinda apples and oranges, this shows muslims having a lead of 1.8% over the population of entire world.

That kinda swing does not happen in one year. The first year, the top position changes hands, the difference will be miniscule, especially since both Catholics and Muslilms are the two dominant religions that actively look for reverts/converts to their faith (contrast that with judaism - another Abrahamic faith - which practically has no active conversion feature). Population-growth alone won't cause the switch.

Unless you are talking about the Day of Judgement (which is again another long philosophical discussion), I don't think this is true or in accordance with muslim aqeeda (faith) about what will happen.

What about the fight between infidels (lead by Dajjal & Yajooj/Majooj etc) and muslim armies (lead by Imam Mehdi)? In between, Hazrat Isa (RA) will also make an appearance. Infact, according to many beliefs the conditions will get a lot worse for muslims before they get better. And according to most beliefs, before Day of Judgement, most of the people in the world will be non-muslims, infact there will not be any true muslim left in this world. Etc etc.

I do not want to engage in a long philosophical/religious discussion on this, of course, since most of these are matters of faith and crystal ball and vague concepts that are not helped by discussions in online forums, but just wanted to better understand if your statement was just a smart-aleck response without much thought, or there is more behind it in terms of substance.

Pls share you thoughts.
