I hope not. Apart from the objections people of other religious will have to that, from what I have read here about the Quran, if there are no non-muslims, a large part of Quran will become pointless wouldn't it? If it is to remain a timeless document, there have to be a large number of other religions

Yes, 'smartie' education does matter but it does not make you a bad Muslim (or a fanatic/terrorist) if you are not literate.
Ideology should be separated from literacy - one can be a good/bad Muslim irrespective of education, upbringing, or the environment.

Everything. You can only be a better Muslim if you've read the Quran - the Quran itself emphasizes literacy.

i kind of agree. you have people who are supposedly very highly educated but have the most backward-ass mentalities ever, committing the strangest and most heinous crimes. Just look a few threads down, a man who was raised and educated in the UK has decided to just live off the state. (this is the strange crime, not the heinous one).
And yes illiteracy and ignorance does breed bad behaviour as well...but at least one can say that's from ignorance. Someone who know's what's wrong and STILL does it is a worse person (in my opinion). No doubt literacy is VERY important but i don't think it automatically makes someone a bad person.

no offense intended but I pray to God this never happens. Thank God i'm a non-Muslim and Buddhists, Hindus, Christians, Zorastrians, Jews exist and we have our own beliefs and different ways of thinking. Thank God for diversity :)

Nice spin job. So if you cannot read the Quran, then you can not be a better Muslim? Also should the Quran be read in Arabic or the mother tongue?
One of the most pious Muslims I have ever met was blind another was Muslima who did not know how to even write her name - both understood and practiced Islam better than the so called literates you speak of.
Next time, try to keep your contempt for Muslims private. Literacy has nothing to do with being a good/bad Muslim.

Exactly. Sure education and literacy are important but they are not required for faith. I usually don't care for these arguments but hskhan is one troubled individual to be attacking 80% of the Muslim community.

Well Folks the fact still remains that all other major religions had a 600 year head start on Islam.......with Judaism having over 3000 yrs maybe and Hinduism over 5 or 6000 yrs and Zorastrians even longer...........you all may think the cup is about to be emptied........I think it is it getting closer to being full...............:)
