I think many would appreciate if you atleast accorded the proper respect when mentioning the prophet SAW i.e. Muhammad SAW not just muhammad. When you show respect others will follow.
I think it has little to do with wannabe Arabs but more that we are still fantasizing the good old days and have lost a grip of reality and the most important, we lack education. When I hear muslims say Islam is a complete way of life, I go Ga Ga … its a framework of principles on which you live your life. The framework has simple rules which offer guidance. Those simple rules find different applications in different scenarios and do not HAVE to be the same as they were 1400 years ago. Its like when you are on an ER team or any rapid response team, you follow simple rules which help you arrive at decisions quickly given changing circumstances instead sifting through a glossary of fatwas. The abudance of fatwas is in part indicative of the incompetance rampant among muslims in understanding the guiding principles of our faith.
