Judaism is the closest, and hinduism is the farthest.

Judaism is close, but they are parasites, worthy to be culled.

OldLahori, it has got to be Christianity close to Islam from idelogical point of view as Jews don't believe in Massiah. Don't you think?

Buddhism is a far religion for Islam.

In fact the angel did not tell anything of Buddhist reigion to the Prophet/

None of the so called Abrahamic Religions are close to Islam !

i am sorry but that's utterly uncalled for and ridiculous. Jews are human beings too. They worship one God. Let Him be the judge of who is and is not worthy of being destroyed.

The Jews also believe in a Messiah. They just don't believe that Jesus is this Messiah.

Judaism is closest to Islam because both are very much based on Rules and Regulations, believe a person will be saved by works, and does not emphasize the Holy Spirit.

Nadia,

I was writing that out of raw emotion, after I read some things of the www.israelforum.com website.

They make my blood burn, I will not apologise for loving my own people.

Since when did hating someone else become a necessary prerequisite for loving someone?

...nearest among them in love to the believers wilt thou find those who say, "We are Christians": because amongst these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, and they are not arrogant. {V.82}

And argue not with the People of the Scripture unless it be in (a way) that is better, save with such of them as do wrong; and say: We believe in that which hath been revealed unto us and revealed unto you; our Allah and your Allah is One, and unto Him we surrender. {XXIX.46}

what do you do with chinese, indians, japanese and other african native
beliefs? should they be treated equal ? or viwes about people should be changed according to technology and wealth and miltary power?

RVikz, no why should anyone be treated differently? My basic point is that, it's upto Allah to judge each of us. Period. My obligations, as a Muslim, are to constantly strive to do what Islam has mandated (i.e., jihad) - that doesn't, in any way whatsoever, come in the way of me showing basic humanity towards all other human beings. That is how Prophet Muhammad (may Allah's peace and Blessings be upon him) lived his life - we don't find a single instance of him advocating any injustices against nonMuslims.
i think this Quranic quote pretty well sums it up (emphasis in bold was deliberately added):

We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and **made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the **most righteous* of you.* {XLIX.13}

Mo: How is your brother in Xinjiang doing? COnsidering he grew up in CHina, how do you guys converse with each other? After all he speaks mandarin and you speak hip-hop.

This whole all muslims are brothers stuff is a bit too unrealistic. You have more in comon with an Indian hindu than a Sundanese muslim, Mah Brother!!!

islam is monotheistic but that does not translate in to monolithic it has borders flags racial divisions like any other faiths. idea of ummah is only on paper.

Racial divisions?

It would be nice if you would at least read your own thread once in a while:

As you know, and we've explained to you several times in the past, there is a difference between Islaam and Muslims. If you find Muslims who are not practicing Islaam, this does not mean there is a shortcoming in the Religion itself, but rather it is a sign of our own weaknesses as a nation. This can similarly be said for other religions.

And also, it has been stressed to you in the passed (over and over again), if you wish to find out about a religion, then go to its sources i.e. from where the Religion is taken. In this case the Qur'aan.

Judaism is the closest by all means.......

similarities(might be naieve, but thats what I gather)

1.Oness of God.
2.Halal Kosher meat.(blessed and salted overnight)
3.synagog seperat place for worship for men and women.
4.Circumcision for men.
5.Celebrating Bakra eid , they do it on the actual date(as proclaimed by them) , where as ours changes because of the lunar callender.
6. Intoxication is allowed but to minor levels...(clash)
7.Fasting, but only for a week.(clash)
8.NO PIGS Meat(similarity)

etc.......
