I am going to put here some facts about Islam (101 level) since there are many on this borad who claim to be muslims and beleive in Allah, Quran and the Muhammad (pbuh) but know zilch about Islam.
Some very basic facts:
-Mulsims pray five times a day because the Holy prophet told them to pray 5 times a day, and number of prayers are not mentioned in the Quran.
-Only three of these prayers are mentioned in Quran by name.
-Shahada, or the formel profession of faith is not mentioned in Quran, but still its the foundation of the Islamic belief.
I hope other members will put more points for our non-muslim visitores.
Matsui, its not about being pious, and especially in anyones opinion. The quotes were for a previously given answer. Its all about knowing the facts before proclaiming.
As as long as its your own Zuban I am fine with it. So let get back to the facts
-The complete way how Islamic prayer (Salat) is performed is not mentioned in Quran.
-The word Tafsir mean elaboration or explanation of Quranic ayats, it doesnt mean that you add or subtract from Quran.
Minime, if people proclaim they are idiots, would you claim that harder for yourself with facts? I am tryin got understand why a person with your temperament would need to justify his being?
Come on guys lets not fight it's only 101. MiniMe here maybe right and actually reduce the number of times we have to pray. From 5 to 3.
MiniMe: See I am only upto chapter /sura 4 verse 34. However when I reach 4:103 11:114. I will change the praying frequency, but thanks for showing me the right path. I stand corrected once again. I knew the three times but was always under the impression that Allah (swt) may have slipped another 2 somewhere in the Quraan (It is a big book after all).
I have a question since this is Islam 101. Can you explain Madhanees point regarding the number of prayers.
