ISIS.....is it really that dangerous and sophisticated?

ISIS is developing a very large, deep and sophisticated base. It has a financial base, by some estimates making $1 million a day. It has the ability to sell oil and wheat at a bargain. And of course it has this extraordinary military capacity. That military capacity is morphing in the wake of American air strikes. It’s moving from an open ground strategy, taking towns, to a guerilla strategy, hiding within towns. A kind of Hamas strategy. But all in all, if you look at that this, this is the most significant terrorist organization I think we’ve really ever faced.

Re: ISIS.....is it really that dangerous and sophisticated?

The barbaric acts which they are employing makes the opponent fearing them that even they run away with out fighting.

Re: ISIS.....is it really that dangerous and sophisticated?

The barbarism making their opponents run is overplayed in some media. The Iraqi army ran because of corruption (units were often being asked to fight without ammunition and with broken down equipment because supplies were sold off), and because of low morale (officers and soldiers who joined up to get paid for the job, not to fight).

Re: ISIS.....is it really that dangerous and sophisticated?

ISIS is just the renamed version of Al-Qaeda...just like how Blackwater renamed itself to Academi. Surprised how people don't get it...

Re: ISIS.....is it really that dangerous and sophisticated?

ISIS was at its max power a few weeks ago and it will now slowly decline.

It made its impressive gains by the mass joining of Iraqi Sunnis and the capture of weapons (especially the heavy weapons).

It is now surrounded by its Syria, Kurds, Iraqi army and also Iran as well as USA and NATO. These countries have regrouped and have rearmed itself. They will slowly push ISIS back.

ISIS is at a disadvantage of having its heavy weapons and vehicles are being destroyed or running out of Ammo and parts. It's veteran fighters are slowly being killed off.

Re: ISIS.....is it really that dangerous and sophisticated?

I initially read this as "ISI ... Is it really than dangerous....!!!"

lol

Re: ISIS.....is it really that dangerous and sophisticated?

Many of them most likely were trained and armed by western countries to fight against Asad. Sort of same thing that happened with Taliban. So yeah they are trained and armed

Everytime I see Isis.. I think Archer!!

Re: ISIS.....is it really that dangerous and sophisticated?

in todays speech President Obama made it very clear He will go after all Terrorist and Oppressors in the Middle East or anywhere.

wonder how far he will go?

ISIS.....is it really that dangerous and sophisticated?

They are dangerous cuz nobody knows much about them. They may be confined to only two countries but may have outer support as well.

Regarding this guy Fareed Z. I really don't care wut he says. He's just another media hyper making money spreading a ton of misinformation and channels like CNN need them for their own purpose

Re: ISIS.....is it really that dangerous and sophisticated?

They are either sophisticated or stupid..can't be both. Either one is dangerous.

Re: ISIS.....is it really that dangerous and sophisticated?

He had to say that. Otherwise, he would be accused of siding with a particular sect in a very polarized region.

In reality, the American mandate will probably be limited to Iraq. Though they had ceased operations in Iraq, the Americans are very much at fault for leaving the Iraqi Army in a state that it was unable to defend itself. The china shop rule still applies, (you broke it, you bought it), though neither Republican or Dems will admit to it. So in a sense, they had to hype up the atrocities in Iraq to make an alternate case for intervention. Truth is, there are bigger catastrophes around the world...oddly enough some of the bigger ones involve Sunni Muslims. Syria...the Rohingya...and so on. The lack of American interest in those admits to a simple truth: intervention is not about human concern. It really is about fixing a problem of American origin. If Obama is true to his word...we would expect regime change in Syria quite soon and action against Burma. Don't hold your breath.

I just wish they told the truth...it's far more respectable than the epic and fantastical language used in the speech which will only invite accusations of hypocrisy.

So in short I think he had to use that sort of neutral language, but does not mean what he said.
