Re: ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) Covert Missions

Ever heard of Ibn-e-Safi? He was invited to speak by the nascent ISI on spy business. :D

Re: ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) Covert Missions

:rotfl: i m gonna leave this thread before Mods (:p) charge me with derailing the thread.

one last comment, the best thing that heppend to ISI was Zia, the worse was Benazir. During the time of nawaz sharif, CIA trained a unit of ISI to go into Afghanistan and take out bin laden, however musharaf came into play and the mission was never a go. now most of these guys are incharge of securing the US rented Air bases and the nukes.

something i heard.

Re: ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) Covert Missions

^:D let’s forgive you Danial.

Good job M2k :k:

Re: ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) Covert Missions

I got the info on ISI missions from this book,

http://www.desistore.com/profilesinteli.html

very interesting book,

I have met the author too,

The author is my uncle’s best friend’s father

Re: ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) Covert Missions

Well i have a different feeling about the whole project when i looked at the Research and Analysis Wing page on this site, which is giving some information but t same time is not revealing too much about operations and activities…which i think is good be=coz they are not revealing too much of information about themselves, on the other hand ISI one is…so whats the point of havinga Secret service when everyonw knows ALOT about it?
I think u are trying to follow the pattern of the way CIA’s information is given on that site…i am not sure if thats a good idea…

PS: i am not trying to sound -ive about ur effort coz its very obvious that u’have given it alot of time and alot of effort has been put into this project, BUT i hope u understand what my point is.

BTW, are u the same person who writes at PP.?

Re: ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) Covert Missions

^ what M2K is writing is Googled or from a book, the information is out there to manipulate and/or create a picture of an agency, no agency in the world is dumb enough to post its info out.

Re: ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) Covert Missions

actually if you look at all the missions that have been de-classified, they end at the 1980's.

aside from the purchase of uranium from moscow, there isnt any major info given on ISI missions in the 1990s.

lastly, before the author could write this book, all of these missions were de-classified to begin with

Re: ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) Covert Missions

If you want to research ISI, then you must write about the situation its facing now, talk to some old dogs of ISI and find out the situation in zero point, it will blow your mind. and the next military take over wont be a happy one, also remember that there are factions in ISI, (black ops units) who are not in full control of the command. and the Old dogs who learned to finance themselves and then were phased out after 9/11 are funding the old friends. situation is not what it seems, and the loyalties are not where they should be,

Re: ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) Covert Missions

I understand your viewpoints.

But the book from where I obtained this info from was written by a high ranking, very respected ISI director. All the info about missions have been de-classified by the ISI, and no info is revealed.

Basically its those CIA books written by ex-CIA agents which tell about de-classified missions. For example, Bob Woodwurd, the journalist for Washington Post, wrote in this book, "A path to war", how the CIA obtained info on where Saadam was during the day the attack began, etc.

So these kinds of info are out there.

Re: ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) Covert Missions

very true DS..a few comments..there is no mention of Asghar Khans petition on the ISI and the Mehran bank scandal as far as the ISIs role in manufacturing the IJI. Also the Taliban were not made by the ISI..till quite late they still backed Hekmatyar..it was more of the IB under Naseerullah Babar with the help of the deoband groups under Fazlur Rehman who were rersponsible for that and the breaking of the JI's influence in Afghanistan.
