ISI chief Hamid Gul’s remarks outrageous: US

Look who is talking. He should have been inquired by UN inquiry committee regarding BB’s murder.

**WASHINGTON: The Obama Administration on Thursday termed “outrageous” and “baseless” the allegation of former ISI chief Hamid Gul that the US was involved in Benazir Bhutto’s assassination. **
“That is outrageous. He is a frequent commentator on television, and certainly has an anti-American agenda,” P. J. Crowley, Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs, told reporters in Washington after the US Embassy in Islamabad also dismissed Mr Gul’s remarks as baseless.
“General Gul made an outrageous suggestion that the US was responsible for assassination of Benazir Bhutto. And Jamaat claimed the US was somehow responsible for the terrible attack on their peaceful demonstration in Peshawar on Monday,” the senior State Department official said.
“Such comments are baseless and irresponsible and should be examined by Pakistani media objectively. The US and Pakistan were fighting and our citizens were dying at the hands of these common enemies,” he said.
Mr Crowley said extremists did not discriminate between striking Pakistani and American targets and continue to claim innocent lives, “from the peaceful Jamaat protesters to Benazir Bhutto”.
“We are encouraged by the recent trends in Pakistani public opinion that recognise the value of the ongoing strategic dialogue and ever-improving cooperation between the United States and Pakistan,” he said. The State Department spokesman said that many people in Pakistan had recognised the positive tone and substance in the US-Pakistan relationship.
“Our strategic partnership involves working together to address the needs of the Pakistani people and the security of Pakistan and the region,” Mr Crowley said.
He said the US and Pakistan “together can and must take a stand” against those who would serve as apologists for terrorists. “In the best spirit of a free press, Pakistani editors and newsmakers should strive to highlight the irresponsibility of unfounded statements like these that are designed to divide rather than unite us.”

Re: ISI chief Hamid Gul’s remarks outrageous: US

Yes, so did Zardari and his close pals i.e. Babar Awan, Rehman Malik and Farhat Ullah Babar who instead of providing help ( which they suppose to do) just disappeared from there... UN report has mentioned it/. do you have any comments on it? first clean your house then point finger on others ( sorry although it is againt PPP's policy, but it is the only right thing to do)

Maybe, but it was right at the end of the rally, so they probably felt it was ok to prepare for the next part of BB's trip.

PPP is not the US secret service, it is a politcial party.

Re: ISI chief Hamid Gul’s remarks outrageous: US

I think you are under enormous emotional and mental stress. Calm down man. I have not pointed out any fingers on anyone. Read my comments and news item again and then burst your nonsense bubble.

According to this report Hamid Gul is so confident about this tragic incident, he should provide some proof. This is not a joke. Blaming super power for this purely a domestic tragedy is just like fingering a sleeping lion. You know then what can happen.

Re: ISI chief Hamid Gul’s remarks outrageous: US

ISI director Hamid Gul is a known Al Qaeda defender. It is people like him and their actions and statements that have brought the trust deficit.

Re: ISI chief Hamid Gul’s remarks outrageous: US

People like Hamid Gul/Chotu Mirza Aslam baig who were part of the midnight jackal conspiracy should be hang by their balls, such a loser they are..

i wonder when Taliban gonna snatch this sucker from his Islamabad house just like they got Col. Imam aka Monkey !

Re: ISI chief Hamid Gul’s remarks outrageous: US

May Allah protect Gen. Hamid Gul sahab. A man is only put down because he says the truth, unfortunately some of our own Muslim brothers and sisters are blind to this fact.

Re: ISI chief Hamid Gul’s remarks outrageous: US

don't worry in new Pakistan, dogs like hamid gul don't deserve a good word. thats a reality.. welcome !

Re: ISI chief Hamid Gul’s remarks outrageous: US

^ how is the new Pakistan different old? just looking at this thread, there still seems to be people supporting statements in support of Al Qaeda and Taleban

old new whatever, it doesn’t need people like you. cough traitor cough

:k: At least not supporting ruthless Indian agencies.

Re: ISI chief Hamid Gul’s remarks outrageous: US

Gul is far from a reliable source on anything, let alone Benazir. He was one of the four persons she suspected of wanting to kill her, and asked that in case she be killed an FIR be registered against him.

Re: ISI chief Hamid Gul’s remarks outrageous: US

Yeah like Benazir was a trustworthy soul that didn’t have a petty vengeful streak?

Hamari Bibi ko kuch mat bolna, tujhy zinda jalaa dengay!!!

Re: ISI chief Hamid Gul’s remarks outrageous: US

not sure why it isnt obvious that someone who is on the victim's suspects list isnt the best source for speculation on who the suspects could be.

Re: ISI chief Hamid Gul’s remarks outrageous: US

LMAO! Yeah no way we can besmirch the image of Mother Benazir "Theresa" Bhutto.

Re: ISI chief Hamid Gul’s remarks outrageous: US

oh besmirch away, if you want to make strawman arguments.. i never cared for the sainted lady.

Re: ISI chief Hamid Gul’s remarks outrageous: US

I do not think one need to believe anything Hameed Gul or any of these taliban apologetics saying, but there is no need to react harshly as well.

One should respect their freedom of speech no matter how disagree with them.

Re: ISI chief Hamid Gul’s remarks outrageous: US

Because the victims suspects list does not consider issues in an objective manner consider the history and the drama surrounding them all.

Just because she thought it was possible doesn't mean its true.

So the establishment supports the Afghan Taliban, does it mean all their opinions and suggestions are to be trashed?

Once they were known as heroes and now they are wanted on the international terrorist list… and people promote this agenda.

I didnt say he was any more than a suspect or someone Benazir alleged to have plotted to assasinate her. However suspects are usually not regarded as credible sources on who the real criminal is, one of the reasons why the govt of Pakistan went to the UN in the first place is that they didnt trust their own institutions.

Incidentally Gul sahab is happy to mouth off to the media on the killing of Benazir, not so cooperative with the actual investigators. Its especially rich that all this is recent press is because of him decrying the UN report for not being exhaustive enough in pursuing leads and so on.
