ISI and Army doing all they can to make sure that democratic system fails in Pakistan

Okay then tell me why do the Pakistanis in balochistan get exploited by talibans and seperatist movements of the negative elements so easily? Tell me why do residents of Balochistan think Pakistan has no right to exist if it cannot turn into a complete shariah abiding state??? Tell me why Balochistan is not open to the development efforts in the region and tell me why is as per your version of Islam, it is okay to kill other innocent Pakistani civilians for a revange?

Only if you guys let people living in that part of Pakistan gain education and have broad visions, broader views and let go of the pre-Islamic stone age arab(Taliban)-like limited mentality regarding education, women and many other issues, you guys (being the boldest, the bravest and the honest of all) will become the most strongest human asset of Pakistan.

Instead of destroying your own Pakistan only because some barbarians in the form of religious leaders come to you and tell you that is the right thing to do (destroying your own Pakistan and killing innocents within Pakistan and outside), why do you guys not become a force for Pakistan instead which is what Pakistan really need to fight these negative elements?

I swear to God if you guys let go of your centuries old pre-Islamic fundamentalists' mentality (which actually is no islamic in itself), and actually join hands with the govt. instead to fight the enemy, Pakistan would become a paradise on earth. And nobody would ever be able to think of laying a bad eye on it.

You said somewhere you were in contact with some sort of NGOs in Dubai? I am surprised what kind of 'NGOs' operate in that place. In my knowledge there is none. But if these are actually some Taliban parties based in Dubai (Because no doubt that land is the actual home for Talibans), refuse to support them. Tell them you belong to Pakistan and even your religion, that is Islam, advocates being loyal to the land you born in. So together you guys, if refuse to be exploited, you can do alot to save Pakistan, just by doing that. We dont ask for much... Just refuse to be so easy for them to be exploited.

Sherdil123 bhaijan. Once again a lot of words but no answer. Before blaming others, can you please enlighten us on what any of the 'democratically elected' governments of Pakistan have done to run the country (and their parties) in a 'democratic way'? Thanks. :)

Re: ISI and Army doing all they can to make sure that democratic system fails in Paki

It is easy to find faults in with this and other similar articles but you have to remember that such articles and op-eds reflect the western view of events in Pakistan. Now, you can ignore them as academic exercise if Pakistan is not expecting anything from the west, but that is not the case. Even though any particular aid package is not tied to public opinion, over time, it is impossible to provide significant aid to causes that are seen detrimental to the western society.

The west as well as Pakistanis themselves intrinsically understand that till date it is the Pakistan military that has kept Pakistan from away from anarchy and provincial wars. Given that how is it possible to see Pakistani army as different from Pakistani government? A Pak govt by Pak military is vastly different (eg under Musharaf) than without

What is the significance of inducting Pakistan into NATO? It can serve some 'pride' but how is that possible when nobody trusts ISI which is very much a Pak military organ? All it will do is that instead of US worrying about keeping secrets away from ISI, NATO will worry about that!

All said, there are more fundamental reasons I think that need to be addressed INTERNALLY within Pakistan

Re: ISI and Army doing all they can to make sure that democratic system fails in Paki

The best strategy to kill a snake is to cut off its head. Until some big heads openly roll in Pakistan nothing will happen. Some big names who are involved need public execution.

iits about time people stopped pointing fingers - the army, isi, democratically elected governments, the general public - they are all the same. they are all equally to blame for the mess.

  1. I dont know why newspaper links are given so much credbility - its like certains peoples lives revolve around an article link which just reassures them what they feel. One needs to stop believing the media so religiously for starters.

  2. theres talk of democratic governments - fair enough a government was elected and it has more legitimacy than Musharaf BUT you forget the PPP especially and probably PML-N get some votes becuse of feudalsim - how can these parties be claim to be deomcratic knwoing thatthey receive votes through unfair means?

3 the taliban are not storng eough to take over the whole of FATA let alone NWFP - they for now are a force that can prove only to be a thorn in the side - the question is whether they will grow? will they be resisted by people in nwfp?

  1. musharaf must go he has been rejected by the people but the problem is the new governments leadership if seen as weak. musharaf was a streong lesader with a lot of backing ie the army and usa. right now its like as if he s waiting in the wings for a collpaose in the new government. is the taliban threat real or is it ISI sponsored games to weaken the new government?

  2. many people were thanking god when the army took over in 1999 - quite frankly pakistans civilian leaders are an absolute failure - they are just greedy. people talk as if the civilian government in pakistan is a decent one for europe. people read too much how governments should be and then try to apply it to pakistan. the stuff you read about is written for educated alnd liberal democratic western countries - not a developing country with a power struggle and power hungry people in. stop reading political ideals and start looking at pakistan itself

  3. the baloch campaign is not affecting all baloch areas - large swathes of baloch territory are peaceful. most trouble is caused by extrem nationalists - they appear to have suddenly become the voice of concern for baloch. there splenty of progovernment tribes and areas as well.

  4. the taliban are important to pakistani policy - they keep the indians out. pakstan does not want india to gain any stornger foothold in afghanistan. the taliban are natural allies to pakistan foreign policy. the only step would be if afghanistan decided to become a neutral country and stopped india from using it against pakistan.

  5. americans do not want to see any muslim states possess nuclear weapons and somehow or another they will make sure pakistan is rid of them soon. what americans policy to pakistan is - its hard to figure. a lot of people argue thatthey want to disentagrate pakistan. neither india, israel also want to see a muslim country with nuclear.

  6. people forget that corruption and pulling a fast one is deep rooted in pakistan society. until this negative character trait disappears i doubt there willbe any changes any time soon. dont blame the leaders when all they do is respresent the nation. pakistanis need to stop taking shortcuts and start doing things properly.

  7. sadly there is a growth in pakistanis really calling their country names such as "f*k*stan" etc. i have a few friends who call these names to their own country- just shows how low they think of their coountry and how low they are themselves.

i have never heard an indian or even afghan swear at their country like that. sometimes i feel pakistan has been dumped with some of the most ungrateful people ever.

  8. army needs to stop being bad-mouthed. fair enough it has made mistakes like all the others but some of the hate against an important institution in pakistan is unnecessary. if the general public and army begint o think very differently and theres animosity....it coud be a very dangerous htig indeed.
