Say your in a public place and u have no where to do wudu can u still read Quran?
Also can u wear makeup and still keep ur wudu? or do wudu without washing ur face? I ask becoz the amount of people I see reading namaz etc with makeup on is astonishing.

I may be wrong but merely for holding/reading Quran wudu is not 'required'.

Make-up doesn't void wudu.

Yes, you need to have Wudhoo before touching a Quran accroding to majority of scholars and the 4 Imams. However, reciting Quran from memory is not the same as touching the Quran, and is okay..
A saheeh hadeeth concerning that has been narrated from ‘Amr ibn Hazm (may Allaah be pleased with him), stating that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) wrote to the people of Yemen: “No one should touch the Qur’aan except one who is taahir (pure).”

Also, if there is no access to water, you can do Tayamumm..as mentioned in the Quran
Al-Mâ'idah 5:6
"...and you find no water, then perform Tayammum with clean earth and rub therewith your faces and hands. Allâh does not want to place you in difficulty, but He wants to purify you, and to complete His Favour on you that you may be thankful."

That what is required for a fard becomes fard - an usool in fiqh.
State of wudu is required in salat, but if make-up is on someone who has lost wudu they will need to remove their make-up before renewing the wudu, since the requirement for wudu is to cover certain parts with water.

about quran touching, we should not touch it directly like touch the pages when we dont have wuzoo. and that is why in india/Pakistan, we have what cases/jackets made out clothes and people keep quran in them so if you dont have wuzoo and you have to pick quran for some reason, you can.

okay in what sense? Wudu can't be done without removing make-up if thats what you are asking.

yes, you can have make up on wudoo, but not wudoo on makeup

That is not something you can achieve by wudu.

CE once you put water on your face, make up usually doesnt stay. But best is obviously to remove it properly and do wuddu in its due way.
X2, the gloves should be clean, no najasat etc on it.
Captain, wuddu does make you taahir why not? if it enables to you to perform salat which is much above than mere touching Quran, then yes it does make you taahir for the period you are with wuddu.

Just to share something here, I have seen the way we give respect to Quran, Arabs i have seen dont. Once I was in a prayer hall in a shopping Mall (they have prayer rooms in almost every shopping center)
So I was there for prayer. The hall was packed with ladies. After namaaz some ladies took Qurans from the book rack, provided in same hall, for reading.
I saw a lady read it, n kept it on the carpet, took her baby or bag (i forgot) n left leaving Quran in the mid of carpet. other ladies were seeing it but non of them picked it up and kept it back on the rack. It was lying there in their feet.
For once i felt someone will step on it :no: I was surprised to see this treatment with this Book, acutally i couldnt believe :no: . I dont know if they take it as mere a book? just like other normal books?
PS: yes ofcourse I took that Quran, kiss it and kept it back on the rack top.

'taahir' is achieved by ghusl.

Only for the condition which has made ghusl wajib on you like jinabat. If those conditions are not present and ghusl is not wajib on you then wudu will make you tahir. Wallah Alim Bisswab.

point 1) in public or not .. you need wudu to touch the quraan .. you dont if you intend to read from memory ..
point 2) you cant do tayammum if there is water available with in a 1 mile radius.. so lets say your in a shopping centre ..and its time for Zuhr ..yesss there are ladies washrooms around ..so one MUST perform wudu…and cant just do tayammum on those marble / glass walls/floors cos water is available.
point 3) you can have make up on AFTER you done your wudu ..as one condition of wudu is that water must penetrate through everything even makeup .. i mean how long can it take to put make up on and take it off and vice versa .. unless someone is intending to do make up like a clown
point 4) ppl who wear make up JUST to pray and to show they look good .. its not really namaz … Allah does NOT look at your faces ..to see how beautiful you are cos HE already knows that cos HE created you HIMSELF .. what he looks at is cleanliness, purification of the soul and the mind, your intention, and when praying your humility ..its the INNER of you that counts and not the outer..
UNLESS … one is away from home at some function i.e. wedding or somat and MASHALLAH taken time out to pray .. which personally i ve rarely seen this happening ladies taking time out from all that yummilicious food and all that chit chat and gossip .. but Illaa MasshaAllah there are GOOD ppl .. then if one has make up on and did there wudu before they put on makeup and still HAVE wudu then they can pray …
Note: someone confusing you above about tahir and what not .. simple answer is .. if one is in NEED of a compulsory shower / ghusal ..then wudu will NOT be enough to read / qur’aan or touch it ..namaz what ever worship u can think of .. you cant even enter the mosque ..if you require the compulsory shower… wudu is second step to ghusal ..i.e. you cant jump to the second step without achieving the first.
