Yes Kohal...u heard right sista. I myself found out a couple of days ago..that a certain...ah..hmm...should I say the name or not...well anyway there is one who drinks...and u r right explains his abnoxious behavior doesn't it? You are right...I don't feel any respect for such kinda peeps either.
I think he drinks more than just before concerts. He looks like a bhangee anyway. Most of junoons US concerts are now organized by indian organizers, and they have the likes of 'after parties' and 'preparties', and we all know what goes on in those. I wouldnt be surprised if the other two drank as well.
Kohal, They all drink before singing. I guess drinking gives them the concentration they need to sing. I don't know about this group but we had Asad Amanet Ali Khan here couple of years ago and he had his collection with him. I know about Mehdi Hussan, he can't sing with out his dose
if drinking is the subject…you do realize that it is also practiced by many bureacrats and armed forces officers?
Ali Azmat may drink, but he is a genuine person who stands by his convictions and beliefs, his drinking is very open as well and does not hide behind some false personna.
To add further, Junaid of Vital Signs drinks as well…plus other extar curriculars, anyone who has hung out with the guy or seen him after concerts will know. Kinda strange because Rohail Hayat amd Shehzaad dont.
why do so many of the perfomers drink or do drugs…well as some people say…its courage in a bottle…its confidence in a puff.
If you want to see the band whose personality junoon tries to copy, check out fundamental at www.fun-da-mental.com.
Aki Nawaz, Muzzafar and gang have some vision, Aki has more talent in his pinkie than the rest of the desi bands combined.
i’ve got a cousin-sort whu did hang out w/ JJ for a while; he said that JJ is a real nice guy. i’m sure regardless of him drinking the beverages still doesn’t change of him being a real nice guy.
The 'muslims' who drink are merely * naam ke musalman*. Real muslims don't drink. It's as simple as that.
If they do so out of their own freedom and/or preference, then that's their own choice. But by doing so, they've abandoned the teachings of their faith and cease to be a muslim by essence.

Fraudia, may I ask on what basis this statement was made? I'm not going to say anything specifically, but I will say I've come across Junaid more than once in the past many years. I'd be very interested to know exactly what you mean by 'extra curriculars' and post-concert activities.
kohal, as for being a nice guy, he is. And the lyrics that he puts to tune and so beautifully sings are Shoaib Mansoor's work.
I've never listened to Junoon, and don't know any of its members. However, I read in one of the Cherryl Crowes' interviews that she drinks a twelve pack before getting on stage.
As far as Junaid Jamshed goes, he was here a while back doing a concert, and there was much uproar about the fact that he wanted a five star hotel to stay at. And wanted to be drove around in a limo. Okay being the celebrity that he is I can understand where he would be coming from wanting all that respect and attention. However, there was much gossip about the fact, that right before his concert he asked his limo driver to stop at a neighborhood convenient store in order to grab a six pack...It was then that many people became aware of the fact that Junaid Drinks. I think that when artists like Junaid who overseas to perform and represent Pakistan, act like this, it is just plain disgraceful and unethic as well as immoral. SAys a lot about the kind of personalities these celebrities have. Being a celebrity doesn't necessarily mean that one should be involved in such activities. There is something called one's "character" "morals" and "values." Which these people put to complete sleep specially on their "foreign tours." I wouldn't want to see the live performance of someone who doesn't hold respect for himself. How can one expect them to hold respect for others? I think it's far better to listen to their creations on the stereo at home.
"MUSLIMS DON"T DRINK"
well thats not true . Muslims are not allowed to but if they do there is nothing you can do about that .
You listen to music , many families in pakistan do n't observe pardah, you watch porns, you watch movies, you take photos all of that stuff is not allowed either and many more things ofcourse.
I think it is well understood by many pakistani people that whoever has money and resources in pakistan controls almost anything. The subject is brought up about pakistani bands here so let me elaborate on that. We're talking about bands here, for living almost half of my life in the States I have seen numerous paki guys drinking like there's no tomorrow. One of my friend married a paki guy complained that "I hat drinking. My father was hooked on it for all of his life. I thought that Muslim men don't drink. There's no difference between him and another disfunctional man." I didn't no what to say to her.
People in here who are from Karachi know very well that in residential places like Defense Society and Clifton and probably other well known places, it's considered to be mandatory to know how to dance, to flash how much westernization is in effect, to be dosed off, and do drugs. In short, they all try to emulate the western culture and feel proud of it. The only problem with this picture is that they're icons of pakistani culture and prusumably should publicate pakistani values. How Ironic!!!
