Re: Is this an honor killing?
So ‘plain old murder’ is not a sufficient charge? Any reason you’re adamant on establishing this is an honor killing? No one said it was “cool,” pal. If someone states this is not an honor killing, it doesn’t translate into a defense of her actions. At this rate you’re either unaware of the definition of HK, or you’re fronting 'cos you can’t be this blond.
Perpetrator : kills because they think real or perceived dishonor has been brought to their name.
Victim : dies because they are believed to have brought dishonor based on something they said/did, or the mere suspicion of the same.
The girl fits neither role.
It appears so. Which actually suggests she stopped her parents from honor-killing her. She didn’t kill them because they were behaving dishonorably or brought shame to her. (While they might’ve killed her because* she’d* bring shame to them). Honor isn’t a motive in this story. Had she not killed her parents, it potentially could have been.
It’s a fact that HK occurs in patriarchal societies, so it follows the majority of perpetrators are male. Why this doesn’t sit well with you and why you call the acceptance of the same “hypocrisy” is unclear. To cry sexism over this is retarded, if not wrong on so many levels.
Anyhoo, I’m not here to beat a dead horse. I actually wanted to ask you to remind me never to winkie smile again. It makes me look like Diwana and I hella creeped myself out re-reading my post.
