Men being gender-stereotyped is such a pressing issue in the world today. If this is parody I like it. If it's unintentional parody I love it.
Tbh, it doesn't sound like an honor killing. Seems AFP is trying to word it in a way to make for interesting reading. I can find you stories that fit the point you're trying to make, but this one doesn't apply. Honor victims die because their actions bring perceived shame to an individual/family/society. This is a would-be honor killing candidate committing patricide/fratricide. The difference isn't just gender, it's also motive. She didn't kill them to redeem her honor (like you would a rapist), she killed them because they were an obstacle to her marriage to a Dalit (shameful act).
Take heart, the definition of an honor killing victim doesn't exclude men. They're often killed along with the women (or men ;)) they're involved with. Statistically the majority of victims are female, because "honor" resides in the bodies/perceived reputations of women (incidentally the bottom-line of most hit Pakistani dramas).
Speaking of gender-stereotypes, take the term man-slut and man-whore. Why do we have to qualify that the whore is male? Because whoredom is a state natural to women, of course. After I pointed this out to my male friends, they started calling each other whores, no hyphens added. The turnaround was endearing, really.
So lets simplify it for my sake since most of you women are so adamant its not a case of honor killing. So in other words a girl killing her father and brother for the sake of a guy at the young age of 14 doesn't bring shame to an individual/family/society. That is just plain old murder and its all cool?
Also wouldn't the act of marrying a dalit be an affront to the honor of the family and thus her actions were in fact an pre-emptive action to get rid of that element?

So 'plain old murder' is not a sufficient charge? Any reason you're adamant on establishing this is an honor killing? No one said it was "cool," pal. If someone states this is not an honor killing, it doesn't translate into a defense of her actions. At this rate you're either unaware of the definition of HK, or you're fronting 'cos you can't be this blond.
Perpetrator : kills because they think real or perceived dishonor has been brought to their name.
Victim : dies because they are believed to have brought dishonor based on something they said/did, or the mere suspicion of the same.
The girl fits neither role.

It appears so. Which actually suggests she stopped her parents from honor-killing her. She didn't kill them because they were behaving dishonorably or brought shame to her. (While they might've killed her because* she'd* bring shame to them). Honor isn't a motive in this story. Had she not killed her parents, it potentially could have been.
It's a fact that HK occurs in patriarchal societies, so it follows the majority of perpetrators are male. Why this doesn't sit well with you and why you call the acceptance of the same "hypocrisy" is unclear. To cry sexism over this is retarded, if not wrong on so many levels.
Anyhoo, I'm not here to beat a dead horse. I actually wanted to ask you to remind me never to winkie smile again. It makes me look like Diwana and I hella creeped myself out re-reading my post.
Because it is an honor killing but you women are being dismissive because the woman is not a victim. Its pure bias on your parts. Such a shame really.
You assume they would kill her for her transgression. When they did no such thing and she in fact committed murder. Which is pretty psychotic on her part.
Its a fact that HK occur in patriarchal societies? Yeah...name one matriarchal society in this world? Talk about intellectual dishonesty.
A man to cry sexism is retarded. Even when it is completely evident? Yeah sure.
Because if precedent is anything to go by, we’re playing let’s-wind-chai-up-because-I’m-bored-and-she’s-a-mug.
I’m not disagreeing with you as much as you’re disagreeing with general consensus. I didn’t write the definition of HK. I’m offering statistics I didn’t pull out of my arse, you’re offering straw man arguments. You’re not giving me much to work with here, buddyman.
That’s an opinion, not a deconstruction of my post. Opinions are not facts. And apparently I have no credibility unless I grow a male member. Talk about sexism.
No, that assumption was yours. You called her marriage to a Dalit an affront to her family’s honor and suggested hers was a preemptive attack. I only entertained the same.
Yes it’s a sociocultural reality. Yes all societies are patriarchal on some level. We’re obviously discussing entrenched societies where this practice breeds.
Sexism schmexism. The Universe wouldn’t make sense if CM wasn’t being a drama mama.
Is it any wonder you missed it? You’re preoccupied with red herrings. Which is why I meme’d you.
It’s like taking offense over the fact that sexual assault victims are predominantly female. What, you feeling left out? Want to be groped?
You got it wrong this time. It happens. Admit it. It won’t make you any less of a strapping, Alpha Male.
