anything wrong in attending church services? or reading the Bible? Is it a sin?
What do you mean by "attending church services"?
By church services u mean, sunday sermons?
if yeah then,, its not right to go.. coz they believe in jesus as the lord, and you wouldnt wana be part of that shirk as a witness..
If you havnt read the quran then why read the bible..
if you wana do comparative religion or give dawa for islam, increase your knowledge, then I dont see nething wrong in it..
But..just ask somone more knowledgeable..:s
HAdrat Muhammad :saw: stopped hadrat Umer
from reading these scriptures…only allowed when you have sufficient knowledge of islam…
I see..so that means hadrat umar did not have sufficient knowledge of islam..
bao bihari for sharing
Assalam Aleekum
Bro. ISS ko jawab maat denaaa.
when the incident occured, surely he did not have sufficient knowledge…
the Quran itself had not been completely revealed at the time…
read this verse for a better understanding…
Quran 42:52
*Thou knewest not what the Scripture was, nor what the Faith. *
this regarding Muhammad (saw) himself…
so when he did not know until Allah completed His Book’s revelation unto him than to expect his companions to be full of knowledge prior to the completion of the Book is just mere stupidity…
if only u wud wish to seek truth…

kaash if everyone wishes to seek the truth..truth is the Holy Prophet (pbuh&up) and His Holy Ahlebait (a).
i dont wana ruin the topic of this thread..i will just end it with the famous saying of hadrat umar
And Umar said, "If it was not for Ali, Umar would have perished." [89]

al Isti'ab, vol 3 p 39
Manaqib al Khawarizmi, p 48
al Riyadh al Nadirah, vol 2 p 194

perhaps you can also comment on this kr-hcy.com
I was very much shocked to see that.
Can you just summarize what that moulana said? It’s long.
Back to the topic, I think we can read the bible but it’s not good to go to church services. However, I think it all depends on niyyat.
Personally I rather spend the time reading the Quran than the bilbe. But reading some quotes from bible is alright I think. Just to see their side of the story.
I don’t know what one should go to church services for.

and what do u wish to prove by this saying????
we all know the good relations and close cooperation between the companions of the Holy Prophet (saw)....
so whats new????
I went to Catholic school from first grade thru twelfth grade, and from time to time I had to attend mass and the liturgies and prayer services they held once a month or so. I also had to stand up and recite the pledge of allegience and the prayer they had afterwards....
I dont see anything wrong in reading the Bible.I mean there is no harm in learning about another religion.
However attending church services? Common sense seems to be enough for this question.Going to church means you would be * practicing* that particular religion. So, I doubt if it would be allowed in Islam. However if you go there to see what its like (meaning you wish to learn a thing or two about that religion) ,once or twice- then thats rather different.
like little human said, it depends on your niyyah...its our job as muslims to give dawah n know about Islam, when we dont know our adversaries, how r we going to win? Going to the church cuz you want to LEARN about christianity and how they practice is (in my opinion) fine, but if you are going there every sunday cuz of other reasons, it might not be the best thing to do..just liek that reading the Bible cuz you want to LEARN n know your oponents is good n also, you can find quotes in the Bible that conflict themselves or the different Bibles that conflict each other so u can actually prove points using THEIR books, since they dont beleive in the Quran...well you are in pakistan but I think ppl living in the US or uk should definately know their neighbours n wat they beleive in, so they can have intellegent arguments and i guess just for the heck of knowing ppl you live around n basically the ppl who run the country u live in
we are muslims and we believe that our religion is the on haq which is indeed true. islam is haq and close to human nature and after islam there is no point in reading bible or goin to church.
read quran u ll get all answers u r looking for.
we dont read the Bible to convince ourselves, we STUDY it to convince its own believers and show them points they dont see
That he Publicly declared his lack of knowledge?!
![]()
and how did he puplicly declare his lack of knowledge? he was just sharing his knowledge.
Oh, I wasnt talking about brother Sheraz. let me rephrase what I posted above:
That he (Umar) Publicly declared his lack of knowledge?!
![]()
^^ So what If Umer rza Publicly declared his lack of knowledge…does that make him smaller, poorer. He was not a prophet and could make errors, therefore its sound like a typicle case of “aquiring knowledge (tool) before to rellay it or use it”..Its all commen sense if you’r non-biased to understand it…otherwise, draw your swords, as the tradition is SO FAR,
May Allah swt distroy the enemies of Islam, enemies of his ( swt ) name, enemies of his prophets and prophacies and also those enemies that have created Firqa’s with’in to cast shadows of doub’t onto the believers…later has been pretty much forwarned by Allah swt in quran to us…
