bhai band puts a lot of emphasis on the bhai part though which i don't want, a dost which you try hard not to have romantic feelings for, i am not talking about guy-guy friendship here duh more like opposite gender friendships that need to stay friendships....something like that.
i guess there's nothing like dost band? :-D

Maa Samaan is a common term in Hindi. Why cant we use Bhai Samaan? Like if I say that Amjad is my Bhai Samaan, does not it imply that he is my friend who is like a brother to me.

"Meet" is braj version of word mitra itself:)
Yeh koi Maha Bharata ke kirdaar lag rahe hain? They were 'Mitr' to each other. Somehow I found 'Mitr' more than friend as we in Sindhi call near relatives 'Mitt' which is quite similar to Mitr.
So for me, Mitr is something more than a friend and like a near relative.
Mitr is derived from the name of Vedic deity Mitra, the god of companionship and friendship, hence in post vedic literature word mitr is written to mean friendship
Vidur jee - aap theek kah rahey hais. They were not blood brothers. But Duryodhan considerd Karna his brother and friend. so when at least I visualize their relationship, to me they are 2-in-1 - brother + friend - which you so aptly desribed as Mitra.

Maa Samaan is a common term in Hindi. Why cant we use Bhai Samaan? Like if I say that Amjad is my Bhai Samaan, does not it imply that he is my friend who is like a brother to me.
Ma Samaan literally translates into MaaSi or khala, Bhai Saman logically follows to cousin's from father's side and in Hindu it is impossible to marry with in cousins from Father's side, they are all brothers and sister as they are from same gothra rtc

^ Agree re: complexity. To me, Duryodhana had lot of good qualities, and is not the villain that he is portrayed as. The most noble characters were Karna and Vikarna, and not the Pandavas. But I digress.
When I think of brother/friend 2-in-1 relationship, the Karna-Duryodhana bond appears to represent it beautifully. (Apologies to the new Mahabharath thekedar in the house)

Dhryodhan’s real name was suyodhan, winners write the history hence name is changed, It was karna who played foul while killing Abhimanyu, and Vikarna was the first person who was sent to bring Draupadi into Chausar sabha, then Sushashan aka dushasan went:), what you thought about their is right but it is not answer of the Nisha’s question, I believe. Any theka would be okay to me except that of Mahabharat, in this epic, sometimes one is right and another time someone else is right and most of the time most of the characters are right, Every character has grey shade. and story depicts every shade a person can have, Favourite charater is Abhimanyu, he died at the age of sixteen but his war and his death changed nature of entire war:up:

Yeh samavaad jaan kar dil ateet kushal hua ke sub kushal mangal hai aur iss puniye ke liye hum aap ke abhari hain, parntu aapki posts ke anoosaar hum to darr hi gae thay.

Hum kshama mangthey hai ki is kaliyug mein humney aapkay man ko ithna kasht diya. Prayashchitta ke liye ab hum vanvas kee thaiyyaree kar rahe hain. Aasha hai ki aap log shanthi se rahe.

Humne is bhoomi mein pravesh kiya akele, aur jaa bhi rahen hain akele. Yahee hamara Dharma hai.

Bhai log are ghunday. Its not used in positive way.
In literature, friends have been given more importance than brothers. As the famous shair is:
Aa rahi hai Chah e Yusuf se sadaa
dost yahan kam hain, Bhai hain bohut
This is why you can find many words for friends (dost, sathi, sangi, mitra, etc), but there is no such variety for Bhai and Bhai samaan dost.
