I am not denying all the facts that have been written about Saudi Arabia are wrong, but what I know is that not whole of Saudi Arabia is rude.. it really depends on which area you are visiting and what kind of person you are dealing with... I have some really good friends, who are Saudis, Egyptians and Palestinian... Yes I do hate lebanese, but there is another reason for that.
but the educated and working class of Saudis is nice, specially the new generation. but if you deal with a village type person, then he sure will give you the treatment of your life..
in general Saudis I deal with are generous, caring and loving.

Germany. Don't think I ever had an encounter with a friendly "German".
Also, hated the attitude of the locals in Dubai.
You have to differentiate between being rude and straight forward. Saudi's are straight forward which is sometimes difficult for us to digest. I do agree people in Medina are more humble than Makkah.

The thing is if you speak with them in German they are quite nice, its english they cannot speak, so therefore seem unfriendly.
Difference is it's not done in an agressive way or in a way to make u feel scared. Generally European men don't have the guts to just gawp at someone, usually if u look at them they will look away, not hold ur stare for 10mins. Flirting implies the girl doesn't mind/doesn't feel threatened but when the attention is making the girl scared/uncomfortable that is more like sexual harassment. Btw I've never said Pakistan is a horrible country.
you asked them to pinch your bum?

I have often heard that the French are not very warm and friendly.

Gulfies (Saudis, Kuwaitis especially) are known throughout the Arab world for their horrible treatment/exploitation of everyone else. This applies in particular to the very wealthy; as mentioned, villagers and Bedouin are often extremely warm and hospitable, but a lot of travelers to the Gulf don't encounter these people.
As for other Arabs, I think most of them are pretty fabulous unless they have lived in the Gulf and have picked up on the trashy attitudes towards non-Arabs. Palestinians, Syrians, Egyptians, who have not lived in the Gulf tend to be terrific. North Africans--Libyans, Algerians, Tunisians, and Moroccans, are nearly immune to the BS Gulf attitude and are just really wonderful and friendly people. Lebanese are a more complicated example. The Christian Beirutis tend to despite all Muslims and consider brown people to be potential cheap labor at best. Muslim Lebanese, especially Shiites, are much more down-to-earth, especially outside of Beirut. The atmosphere in Beirut has been so poisoned by the civil war, etc., that the attitudes there really stink.
I despise Israeli attitudes. I generally find Israelis loud, obnoxious, and self-obsessed. The first time I went there I was mistaken for an orthodox Jew by some (gori dressed modestly) and when they found out I was not Jewish their attitude just changed 360 degrees---like I was radiating poison or something. Israelis do tend to be racist, and if you are clearly Muslim they will go so far as to give you incorrect directions, etc. Not to mention that you will get stopped and searched everywhere--malls, bus stations---and the airport is a nightmare. Palestinians will be be doubly good to you to compensate, however, especially if you are clearly Muslim and dealing with Muslim Palestinians.
In Europe, the French will respect you if your French is really good. Otherwise they'll just tolerate you. :) Germans---I have found to be extremely cold and racist. I was in the airport in Frankfurt once with henna on my hands and a headscarf (was en route from Morocco), and the woman at the info desk gave me the most disgusted look ever. Italians I've found to be indifferent, but as their experience with immigration is very new compared to most of Western Europe I think non-goras might experience more racism there.
Americans I think are really pretty friendly (but I'll admit some bias.) Even New Yorkers! The thing with New Yorkers is that we live at warp speed, so we don't stop for anyone on our own, but if you get someone's attention and ask for help they will be extremely responsive and helpful. New Englanders are very sweet but they are reserved---they won't approach you, but if you approach them they are very friendly and helpful and you may get home invitations, etc., especially in liberal areas of Vermont, Massachusetts, and Maine. California is pretty friendly, but more in the north (San Francisco) than the south. And the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington) is very friendly and people are super mellow and relaxed. The Rockies---Colorado and especially Utah---are a little rough. People are extremely aggressive drivers and you get a tougher attitude from people.
Re: Is there a country where the people are not warm and friendly?
Good analysis. Out of all Westerners, I found Americans more open and friendly.
Italy! Which was surprising
I didn't think so. I was pre warned but I found them to be pretty warm and friendly.
Re: Is there a country where the people are not warm and friendly?
Israel, Germany, Russia, Australia & New Zealand & Norway !
Russia!
Yes, how could I forget Russia? They are famously rude--it's like a point of national pride. :)
Re: Is there a country where the people are not warm and friendly?
Russia??? I love Russia…!!!
I always find (from the people i speak to ) that they have bad experiences as they go there without learning anything about the place. Wherever i have been, i always ensured i knew things about their culture, their society, the current political atmosphere… and i always remember to learn some conversational phrases in their language… hence why i have never generally come across any unpoliteness when i have travelled ![]()
I still discriminate against yanks though. Have been to most states there and had a great time… but i still don’t like them as a nation. ![]()
