Re: Is there a country where the people are not warm and friendly?
I agree with NJMasti. Korean's are like that....very cautious and do not trust other nationalities. Kind of introverts. Perhaps all nations who have conflict with neighbors are like that.
Every time I read about a country, someone will always mention how warm and loving the people are, and how friendly everyone was. I am curious, is there a country where the people are not warm and friendly?
Re: Is there a country where the people are not warm and friendly?
My Mum told me that when she went on Hajj she found a lot of the Saudi men v.rude and kinda aggressive, they would push people out of the way so they could walk thru with their wives whilst the multitude of people of other nationalities would be a lot more polite. I've heard bad stories about Saudis and their arrogance from many many people as well, inc other Arabs. The way they look down at Asians is esp shocking, in one case a person was told by the man at passport control in Riyadh how could he be a British citizen as he had brown skin. Some people need a slap...
Re: Is there a country where the people are not warm and friendly?
Deeba1234, its all over middle east. highest in Kuwait. They consider sub-continent people worst than donkeys and the rule of law is only for non citizens. can you imagine young Kuwaiti men harassing women from sub continent. my own cousin got harassed at night while walking to nearby market and says its common. Second comes Dubai and then Saudi Arabia.
One of my Pathan friend who is tall, white and speaks good english (doesn't look a Pakistani) went to Dubai in Dec 2008 very first time for job interview. The immigration guy at Dubai airport started a nice jolly conversation thinking he was Dutch. When he saw green passport, he said I don't believe u are a Pakistani and interviewed him for 10 more minutes. Then said just leave -----(bad words)------ Pakistan. Also, he got selected in company just because of his skin. There were many other qualified people but the ARAB liked him.
Racism starts in middle east at the very beginning. Pay scales are different for people holding nationalities of UK, Australia, USA, Canada for equally qualified people from Sub continent. Even you can see a Canadian with bachelors earing $6,000 a month and a Pakistani with doctorate. earning $1,800 a month for same job.
Human rights record in Middle East is also bad especially what rich Arabs do to poor south asians, Brutality, torture, etc. You can search and see in youtube as well.

^ I felt this too on my trips to Saudi when I went on Umra and Hajj.
The Saudi men are so arrogant, proud and very rude towards Pakistani's and even the Saudi women show this agressive behaviour but mostly it was the men.

100% true im leaving in Dubai and working for a small company belive me our manager is from South Africa (white) and he is just 10standered pass he proudly saying that i was truck driver on a farm house.comany has provided him with a Nissan pathfinder with unlimited fuel, 3bed room luxury Apartment, a big salary ,free passes for horse racing, tennis maches, rugby mach etc on other hand a well qualified Pakistani brother-finance manager from Karachi with ACCA degree geting less then half of his salary with no facilities.a pakistaqni Engineer geting even less then the finance manager.
so it is more like Aprithied system, but Dubai local people are far better then the other Emirates i.e Abu Dhabi,Sharja, Rasal Khima etc becose most of these Dubai local are not pure Arabs may be this is way they are a bit nice.
Re: Is there a country where the people are not warm and friendly?
when one see the behavior of these Arabs particulary Egyption, Saudi, Labnanies , and PALSTENIAN towards Pakistani or asian then one lost sampthy for plastenian aganist Isreal...
Re: Is there a country where the people are not warm and friendly?
erm. My best friend is Lebanese and the guy I am currently lusting over is Palestinian. I don't think it's (racism in the Arabs) a blanket rule , however, I know its very very prevalent and - facts are facts - what we put around, comes around. I remember a thread a while back citing some very scientific reasons for why Black people aren't as fabulous as we? It's a like a beautiful karmaic circle of degeneracy.
Having said that, the French and Iranians are le blekh.
Re: Is there a country where the people are not warm and friendly?
^^My Dad worked as a doctor for the Saudi royal family for a short while, great money but said the people in general were a nightmare. Problem is they're like those who've won the lottery, think they can behave how they like and everyone is beneath them. On the whole they aren't educated and haven't worked hard for their money like most people in other countries do so they have this weird sense of entitlement and the idea that 'i'm better than u.' Have heard a lot of horror stories about Saudi royals in the UK as well, stuff that no other nationality of people would ever be able to get away with. Anyway, will be interesting to see how they act when the oil runs out lol.
Do think some of the other Arab countries are better, been to Dubai many times and think it's a lovely place. Egypt was nice as well. Perhaps I'd feel differently tho if I actually had to live or work out there tho. I think those countries that have more of a 'mix' of people are noticeably more tolerant and wecoming and more open-minded or even those that have a mix of religions like Lebanon with so many Christians as well as Muslims. Also, I think many Shias are often more open-minded than us Sunnis, I hear a lot of anti-Shia stuff at Mosques in London but I have Sunni family members who've been to Iran and welcomed by the people and treated really really well, invited to pray with them etc. If the reverse happened here they would prob face a lot of abuse imo.
Re: Is there a country where the people are not warm and friendly?

Ahhh see, when Italian men do it, it's "Flirty", but when desi men stare, they are besharam and behaya, aggressors, chicoray and Pakistan in general is a horrible horrible country. But not Italian men, those flirts.

Let's see it from the employer's point of view.
The white guy will probably not play the Pakistan vs Indian, Punjabi vs Muhajir games at work.
His country is not volatile like Pakistan, so he will most likely focus on the job rather then pouring over Jang.com and Dawn.com every morning to see what is happening back in pind.
When it comes to lay off and fire people, he will not think "Let me help my Pakistani/Punjabi/Muhajir brothers"
His English speaking skill are likely better than his Pakistani counterparts.
He wont hesitate to go have fun with the management, because his wife/gf/bf understands that socializing is important at work.
He probably has more interesting things to talk about than Pakistan's role in the 21st century.
All these things matter to managers and decision making people.

Difference is it's not done in an agressive way or in a way to make u feel scared. Generally European men don't have the guts to just gawp at someone, usually if u look at them they will look away, not hold ur stare for 10mins. Flirting implies the girl doesn't mind/doesn't feel threatened but when the attention is making the girl scared/uncomfortable that is more like sexual harassment. Btw I've never said Pakistan is a horrible country.
Deeba1234, that is why Arabs have not gone any further in technology as well. I consider Pakistani students much better than Arabs. Arabs have a weird thinking of being superior, yet they lick westerners. I have a Kuwaiti customer and I always have to explain him things 10 times again and again, yet again he commits mistakes and never cares about it. Rather snubs me because I am Pakistani. Due to such behavior, I have seen skilled Pakistani's labourers fighting and even hitting their bosses (very rightly). Indians don't do it. they keep smiling....yes sir attitude.
I 100% agree with thought on Shia's and Iran. Shia's are modern. You only see them conservative on 9th and 10th Muharram. We see a different picture of Iran on media but actual fact is that in Tehran u see women wearing western dresses and covered with Abbaya. Iranian's are very soft spoken and open minded (a lot more than Pakistani). Their names also represent affection. like Noooshin Javanbakht, Amina Dilgoshae, etc. and when they say Janoooom (means janam).....its lovely.
Re: Is there a country where the people are not warm and friendly?
Teendabbyawala**. **I under stand your ponint this is the case when a white Qualify for the post or he/she has proper education in the concern field but what is the point in instaling a truck loader/driver in a post of Manager. this is puerly only becose of his sckin color.Always in need off lower technical staff.im not defending the atituade of Asian staff but belive me Indian Manager are much more professional then these so called GORAS. Mostly Arab Employers apointing them just to show other felow Arabs that he has an White guy as his employee.
